Transit Connect

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

I spoke with the Ford Dealer in Florida where I have my regular maintenance done. I brought it in and explained what was happening when the transmission shifted hard, on downshift and up-shifting. They recommended a diagnostic be done. I agreed. Left the vehicle and was asked if I was able to leave it overnight? I agreed.

When I received the call about the problem. It was the Left Front Axle Seal that was leaking, this leak caused the transmission to leak fluid. In this model, the transmission fluid CANNOT BE CHECKED as it is A SEALED UNIT. And the on-board computer DOES NOT notify the driver when TRANSMISSION FLUID IS LOW!

This vehicle had less than 20,000 miles when this happened! My husband and I travel a great deal and rely on this vehicle for long distance driving, over 1500 miles one way!

Needless to say, I am greatly concerned with THE LACK OF RELIABILITY of this Ford Transit Connect!
