Acadia

  • Automatic transmission
  • 107,000 miles

When making a turn at a low speed, the power steering fails and after a few seconds it re-activates. This is extremely dangerous because it’s basically impossible for me to get the car to steer. I took the car to the dealer and they said it will cost $1,400.00 to repair. I recently had to replace the engine and now I have to fix a serious steering problem.

I don’t understand why GM has not issue a recall for this problem because many people are having the same problem. Does anyone know how a recall gets issued?

Acadia SLT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

For the last 10,000 miles of my 100,000 mile warranty-repeatedly a GM dealership told me on two separate occasions that there was nothing wrong with my steering and that it must be the type of road/garage I was driving on.

I am so disappointed wtih GMC and the power steering issues. Everyone I know that owns an Acadia has the same issues with the power steering. I took it in to get it fixed and spent a small fortune. I have read that some people got it covered under the power train warranty. I will be checking into this, but I agree that this should be a recall. It is a dangerous problem as there were times when I was almost unable to turn my car. I hope it doesn't have to get to the point that someone gets in an accident and is seriously hurt.

Can't believe the steering is already worn out with only 79000 miles. G.M. should have recall on this item or reimburse those of us who have had this problem.
