I received an error stating “service side detection system” first. Then I started having issues with every random error code coming up, side air bag, then the side detection lights staying on at all times while engine is on, and I lost my radio entirely. Without my radio I have NO back up camera! A GMC service dealer told me the side detection modules burned out and blew the fuse. However, instead of them turning off as it should have once the fuse is blown, they remained on 24/7. This burned my battery out and I had to pay $250 to replace my battery. I then started having random error messages coming up on my DIC again and took it to the dealer who stated that THE SIDE DETECTION MODULES REMAINED ON 24/7 and not only blew my battery but caused the wires attached to the rear wire harness to burn out completely onto the wire harness!

This was a potential fire that could have killed my children and/or myself. This is a safety recall on other model year Acadias but not on my 2016 model. My service dealer has to turn off those faulty modules manually until the new one arrive and can be installed. I am crazy angry that GMC is not adding my Acadia to the safety recall because this is absolutely a safety hazard.

Every 2016 or older Acadia owner needs to know this issue and scream at GMC to recall these cars and fix them! My dealer ordered the side detection modules and they are on back order forever because of the demand for them from so many other Acadia owners.

A little over a month ago one of the modules went out for the side detection system. About 2 weeks later another module went out for front camera, which basically is another safety feature, along with the built in garage door opener has no power to it (I assume this is with some kind of module as well). And about 2 weeks after this, the fuel gauge is not working correctly. Of course these are out of GMC's bumper to bumper warranty. This is a 2016 vehicle and I treat it well, it should not be having problems like this. I am so frustrated as the cost of one module is close to $700.00.
