Acadia SLT1 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 22,000 miles

Was driving and the car's check engine light came one. It immediately started to decelerate despite me pressing the gas. The car stopped in the middle of a 4 way intersection and would not drive. I turned the car off and restarted it several times - again, the car starts but the car would not move. This could have been a fatal situation but luckily it didn't turn out that way. The deal confirmed - it is a transmission failure - after just 20k gentle miles. The dealer also said this 1.) is a pretty common issue with these cars 2.) GM forces them to repair rather than replace the transmission 3.) if this weren't under warranty it would be $5k worth of work 4.) it isn't a permanent fix, the design flaw that resulted in this COULD cause another failure.

This is my first and last GM product. I now understand why these cars have the reputation they do. Shame on me for giving them a chance. Back to the Japanese I go...

Acadia Denali

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,500 miles

This has been happening off and on since shortly after I bought the car in Feb 2016. They have never been able to find an issue. They did fix something related to the check engine light always coming on but this problem has never been able to be duplicated while they are checking it out. Very frustrating since now it is out of warranty. The check engine light is on about 50% of the time. Just so tired of dealing with it!!! Right before this happens I can feel the car starting to have trouble accelerating. Just would like the problem addressed.

Acadia Denali V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 150 miles

Just ridiculous. The vehicle is 5 days old, while driving 35mph vehicle came to a complete stop. This is a dangerous situation. The engine was runing however, there was not excelleration, you could floor the pedal and nothing would happen. So we were left in the middle of the road around a bend waiting for someone to come flying around the bend and creaming us. Luckly there were no other cars coming and we shut the engine off and started it up again and was able to move it over, only for it to happen again. This is so discouraging. You save to buy a new vehicle, buy american and it ends up like this. I don't think I want this vehicle back. Dealership has spent tow days with it to figure out what happened, and their still not absolutely sure. They are going to try replace a part, but their not sure it is the problem. I have put in a phone call to the Sales Manager. I just don't think I want this vehicle back. I would appreciate anyone's thoughts or experiences.
