All these problems come and go, somtimes depending on the outside temperature. Some of it got fixed and came back again. The major problems are that the vehicle shuts down without any warning - no engine no electric nothing-, so its even not possible to call on star! the other thing is that the transmission start to shift gears while driving on a leveled raod at consistant speed. All this items got fixed and come back after a while.

Engine stalls for no apparent reason. I have contacted dealership and they can find nothing wrong. I advised them of a recall regarding the fuel system that may affected the problem. Says they replaced the fuel filter. The first time I took it in, they said that it was the ignition switch. Also transmission makes a very loud noise when attempting to take off at times. It sounds like an engine fan that will not go off. There is a major lost of power when this problem is occuring. I bought this car as a program car, with @ 11, 000 miles on it already. I've had problems with it from day one. I have only had it a few months. I am extremely irritated with this engine problem. This is extremely unsafe.

We purchased new vehicle October 2001 and within 4 months began experiencing problems beginning with a noise within the steering wheel. Dealer technician replaced defective airbag module. The next month, my new Envoy has been to the dealer 4 times for the same problem of 1) wind and/or whistling noise at speeds above 45mph, 2) "vibration" noise coming from transmission when vehicle reaches 3rd gear, 3) when vehicle has reached 3rd gear and previous noise begins, there is also a vibration felt in the acceleration pedal. On the first trip to dealer for these problems, technician only agreed with the wind noise. Discovered the front side mirrors were the cause. Replaced both mirrors---problem still exists, however, he can't hear them. Explained it was the nature of the vehicle. He also repaired the weatherstripping which had "fallen off" the right rear door. He advised that he did not hear any noise in the transmission area or in the gas pedal. We took to another dealer who had a technician test drive the vehicle and advised that there was both a noise in the area of transmission and a vibration in the gas pedal. Returned to the dealer who originally was doing repair work and had him ride with me. At this time, he heard the noise I was complaining about and advised that it was coming from the heat shield at the catalytic converter. Made an appointment for repairs, picked up the vehicle and later the same day, the noise returned. Took vehicle back, technician said he didn't hear any more noises. Waited 2 weeks, made another appointment to return vehicle for right rear door "rattling", and "heat shield" noise which had become non stop. At this time, they replaced the weatherstripping on the door and again adjusted heat shield by making a "cushion" so that it would not vibrate against the exhaust manifold. This did not resolve the problem, as it still "vibrates" so as I can still feel stress through the gas pedal on the transmission when reaching speed.*

Mirrors 'wander' every time vehicle is unlocked, fail to return to settings creating an unreasonable danger to the occupants of this vehicle as well as other vehicles when changing lanes or merging into traffic due to lack of visability of the area behind the vehicle. Transmission failed on a slight incline with parking brake engaged and transfer case locked and in 4WD and transmission in park - vehicle began rolling backwards down the slight grade. There was a recall for this problem - campaign was completed at dealer, but fix is unknown to the owner.

Transmission does not seem to downshift; loud fan noise with loss of power; hard shift into gear from start; missing rear seat latch to hold down seat and easily wobbles when shaken; hook for latch is present but no latch present seems to be design flaw.

Service engine light illuminates, engine cooling fan engages, engine power greatly reduces and transmission shifts improperly. Loud noise from computer controlled engine cooling fan. Vehicle will not accelerate or shift properly when driving with fault. Fan clutch replaced, computer programming changed with no success of fixing problem. GMC refuses to buy back vehicle. Dealership indicates this problem is occurring on all 2002 GMC Envoy's at varying levels mine being worse case. Vehicle is unsafe for use in any traffic situation as the problem manifest itself rapidly with severe loss of engine power, loud noises from engine and poor shifting and acceleration.
