The windshield wipers will fail to operate, predominantly in warmer weather. The problem is intermittent, and unpredictable. This is a very unsafe condition, and appears similar to the various NHTSA campaigns for a similar problem on other GMC vehicles.

The winshield wipers may fail to activate when the switch is placed in the on position. This has the same description as a GMC recall for other models of this same year. How do I fix it before someone gets hurt?

Plume of smoke comes out of control panel were the heater switch is. The area around the switch gets real hot. As for the windshield wipers they stay on when I shut them off. Then it takes a few minutes for them to turn off. The air-conditioner sometimes gets cold and other times it bairly gets cold. The sliding door gets stuck.
