I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500. Engine temp holds rock steady in normal range (200 - 210) until outside temp goes higher than 85 degrees F. With A/C running, the temp slowly moves up to the "danger" zone. Have had the water pump and water temp sensor replaced. This made no difference. Took to dealer while the gauge was registering "over heated". The technician took a reading with a laser temp gun of the engine and the result was a normal engine temperature. So.... it appears that I have some problem existing between the computer and the temp gauge. It is hard to ignore the temp gauge even though I know that I am seeing an inaccurate reading on the gauge. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
