Sierra 2500 SL V8 6.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 24,000 miles

I got this GMC TK. 2500HD brand new from Cochran GMC and was told from the guy that I brought it from not to have it under coated the it would void the warranty. I have had 4 brake lines rust out, gas line rusted out, e-brake cable rusted out, shifter cable that goes on transmission rusted off, frame rusting very badly and I'm still having trouble with the brake lines rusting. I have 28,500 miles on this truck !!!!!! That's right 28,500miles. Very Dispointed in the GMC 2500 HD, I should have gotten it undercoated like I wanted to do. First truck that I had that I did not get done. I sold a 1986 Chevy 3/4 ton to a guy that I worked with in 2006 and it had only 35,600 miles on it and I only replaced tires on it. What a Great truck it was. I had Rusty Jones undercoating on it. It still had the org. SS mufflers and pipes on it. I take care of all my cars and trucks and I'm very unhappy with this one. We just got our second 2017 GMC terrain and we are happy so far. Sold a 2010 GMC Terrain with 89,000 on it. It was on the lot for 2 weeks and it sold. Brakes lines shold NOT RUST OUT !

Sierra 2500 SLE 6.6L Diesel

  • Automatic transmission

GM claims that brake lines are failing due to lack of maintenance. Mechanic (GM Certified) told me that the metal couplers were catalyzing with the metal lines.....causing the lines to rust....inside out. So where in the maintenance manual does it say to inspect steel brake lines? This faulty design has already been reported - affects all 99-2002 1500/2500 frames. GM has skated by and the government will not lift a hand to find them guilty.

Sierra 2500 V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

My brake line rusted out on the underside of my truck. My mechanic advised this should never have happen. He feels GMC used cheap materials. I have much older vehicles and I have never in my history of owning a vehicle had the brake line rust out under my vehicle. I almost had a serious accident because of this. I saw a similar problem on this site. GMC definitely should look into this matter and issue a recall. There could be serious injuries or lost of life due to this problem.
