Sierra 2500 Denali 6.0L

Had a dash cover made for my 2015 GMC Denali 2500HD and noticed they had made slits half way up into the dash on the passengers side above the glove box. There is embossed lettering on the dash that says airbag, but I could not see any airbag, not in the glove box or down below. So when I went back to my dealer I asked, where is the airbag on the passenger side. They said...oh...well....it busts through the top of the leather when it deploys and I remained....so what then....you have to remove the center console, replace the entire dash and all of the gauges and controls? No way...cannot be....who in their right mind would design such a system. They said Yup, that is about it.

The whole front of the passenger compartment comes out just to fix or replace an airbag. The engineers and the product assurance persons who let this design out the door must have been influenced by both versions of the movies Dumb and Dumber, one and two. Speaking professionally as an engineer who spent many years in product assurance, this would never have gotten past me. This is the stupidest bit of engineering I have seen in my entire life. How simple would it have been to put the airbag where the glove box is or even put a pop out hatch door on the top of the dash....No...we like to do things the hardest and most expensive way....replace the whole dash...unbelievable!
