Just like all the other Tahoe owners..I have same issues.. Bought used 2004 yukon from what a local CHEV/GM dealer last year. WE purposely sought out a GM from GM dealer and paid MORE FOR THAT.. 3 months after buying the Yukon, we noticed heater did not work and was blowing cold air... Noticed coolant reservoir was low so like most ..just filled it up.. That was my a bad decision.. why? That simple action bought us made us go past our 3 month USED CAR warranty ... long story short after the 2nd time of filling up the coolant reservoir.... took it in and Wholla = 2 cracked Heads because of the CASTTECH manufacturing defect.. I Grit my teeth and PAid the Frigging 3,500.00 for the repair. Asked if Motor (short block) was worth fixing or if there was any secondary damage.. Mechanic said.. oh yah-no signs of water in oil....should be fine... HOWEVER.. only 3 months later, we were left stranded on hiway while travelling with family... vehicle alarms said we had no or little Oil pressure. I Shut off vehicle... checked oil....it was full and fine...Started it up.. wow...Fine for 10 minutes.. then gradually lost oil pressure again. first dealer said.. couldn't find problem and was showing pressure again. I suggested looking at filter as it seemed like it was not mechanical as over time it lost pressure...---gradually clogging filter... they did it.. said it was fine.. Flew to pick up unit.... NO OIL PRESSURE... had to hitch ride back home... Had to tow vehicle 3 hours back to home... No-one knows whats wrong but all suggest engine is dead--bearing and would need about 10 hours to pull oil pan to inspect...Now Although the heads are still on warranty.. "something else must be wrong with Motor"... Yah-- no SH*T.. Now we are being told that we need new motor.. another $5,000.00... If I new that was going to happen ..why did I replace the heads. I think it both issues are related based on possible contaminated oil or negligence on the head repairs ie) 2 places said they have heard that gasket shavings from the repair found it's way in motor or even worse.. maybe they did not actually change the filter... I am fighting with them now asking for acknowledgement or support from original issue.

After owning 22 cars in about 30 years via personal, work, and hobbie vehicles, this is my first and LAST GM.

Looks like many have been affected. I would like to know a few things.

1) Does you Vin tell repair show that you have the CAST TECH HEADS? 2) what % of all the vehicles with the 5.3L motor had these heads put on...

There should be a class action suit on this but until then, at least we have the web, choice and voice... SEND MESSAGE TO GM. "WE ARE SORRY WE BAILED YOU OUT".

1) USE SOCAIL NETWORKING WEB PAGES TO GET THE WORD OUT. 2) STOP BUYING FROM THEM

My dealer is so far refusing to acknowledge they knew about the heads while unit was on the lot and refusing to acknowledge the loss of oil pressure is related. THey offered me only 25% of value of car to trade out...after 1 year? I heard that ford recent called a recall back on a 2001 Sport Win-star van..for differential problems...9 years later... There is a reason GM almost went under. I thought I would try to help them buy purchasing what looked like a good vehicle... They decided not to help me in return.
