cracked dashboard cracked dashboard

This is a definite safety hazard as the dash will break apart and throw shards of plastic if the passenger airbag is deployed. This vehicle has been garage kept since new and there is absolutely no excuse on a vehicle which cost in excess of $55k to have this kind of blatant defect. There are thousands of people who have reported this problem and yet GMC has yet to issue a recall.

Dashboard started to crack. Took it to the dealer who said my warranty was not in affect in 2011 and that I would have to pay to replace it. I bought a 2007 and a 2008, now both dashboards need to be replaced. It's not right how GMC treats the little man, who is the source of much of their income. I would really like to know what help I can get to make them pay.

My husband and I bought our Yukon used 2 years ago. The dashboard did have a few minor cracks; 1 by the passenger airbag and 2 on the driver side hump. Over the past two years, 2 more cracks have appeared and 1 of the previous cracks has grown. I take very good care of my vehicle. I just asked an auto body shop if they could repair, and unfortunately he said there was nothing he could do. Reading other complaints about this issue, makes it seem like it's a common problem with the 2007 Yukon. Embarrassed and unhappy!!

I love my truck but it is very embarrassing when someone gets in it and the dash has huge cracks right on top of the steering wheel column and by the airbag. There are many, many people with the same issue but because it's not a safety issue, it's not something that GM takes responsibility for. I take pride in my truck so should GM.

I take very good care of my vehicles, I always have sun visors to protect the dash and keep the inside cool. And even with being cautious about my Yukon that costs well over $50k I still end up with cracks all in my dash. My girlfriend noticed them first and I was in denial , I figured maybe she was messing with me knowing how much I cared for my SUV. No she definitely wasn't like every one else's my cracks are at the passenger airbag and randomly around the dash. Pisses me off because she has a Toyota Yaris with 150k miles and her interior is perfect and at that she doesn't use sun visors or clean her car as much as I do. WTF GM? This is a luxury vehicle with Playskool plastics..

As previously stated about crack in dashboard .I have since found 2 more so both sides and middle now have one.I happened to stop by

dealership Centennial Hill's location in Las Vegas. The service people told me if you use any soap on it this will happen.I was floored by his response. So I had to ask only on the 2007 models ?He had nothing to say. If this is so it should come with warning about cleaning your dashboard, seriously never heard of such a thing.

My dash is cracked in the same spots as most everyone else. One on the passenger side by the airbag and on the hump above the instrument panel. I am beyond frustrated, it rattles when I drive and looks terrible. I'm so on board if this becomes a class action lawsuit.

I bought this truck new off the lot in 2007 and have driven every mile on the vehicle. All service and recommended maintenance has been performed by the GMC dealerships. I first noticed the crack in my dashboard a year ago. It started next to the passenger airbag as a crack and now a whole chunk is missing from that location. Upon further inspection I also have a large crack over the instrument panel and driver side hump.I contacted my local service tech who told me the cost to fix would be in the $600 plus range. I also contacted GM and filed a complaint, a few weeks later the complaint was denied, but they offered a $1,000 incentive to trade in for a new GM, to which I laughed. it is unfortunate to spend over $50,000 on a new vehicle and have this poor of quality or willingness to fix what appears to be a common problem.

Contacted GM about the problem, took the vehicle to a dealer, spent a hour and a half at the dealership while they took pictures and sent them to GM for Gm to deny the claim because the truck is out of warranty. Obviously GM sees no safety issue with the dashboard being cracked by the airbag .Currently own 7 GM vehicles, do to this will not purchase another one because of GM lack of building a quality product and standing behind it.

My 2007 Yukon was in great condition until recently when my dashboard cracked out of nowhere! It's cracked over the instrument panel and right off the corner of the passenger side airbag! I feel the cracks are a definite safety hazard if I'm ever in an accident and that air bag deploys. I think the whole dash will break apart into pieces causing injuries. In all the research I've done GM is not owning up to this very common problem. I'm taking it to the local dealer but I'm not expecting much. Most people haven't been able to resolve this without it costing hundreds out of pocket.

cracked dashboard cracked dashboard cracked dashboard

How does a vehicle that cost approximately $50,000 have a dashboard that is so cheap? My truck is parked in a garage most of if not all of the day. The first crack by the airbag occurred within the first 20,000 miles. The next crack is running up the dash. I have a commuter car that is always parked outside that doesn't have any cracks in the dash. I have a friend who owns a company that has 13 GMC trucks and he said all of them have dashboard cracks. And no recall or willing to repair it? Nice job GMC. I will never again buy a GMC!!!!!

I could literally copy paste all the other "CRACKED DASHBOARD" Complaints!!! I had mine checked because I was afraid of the airbag being affected. I was told the airbags are fine, but the dashboard needed to be replaced and NOT covered under warrenty????? Seriously??? Obviously, by the identical issue happening to other consumers this means "TREND" , which to most businesses would be alarming! WAKE UP GM......YOU HAVE A PROBLEM!! Does someone have to get hurt first??? These vehicles are very expensive..... I wonder if FORD is having any issues of this type, might be worth checking into and TRADING THE GM PRODUCT.

Signed,

Had Enough!

I take very good care of my vehicle. This is a luxury vehicle and I treat it as such! I noticed a crack in the dash behind the steering wheel and then another closer to the middle of the dash. I called the dealer to inquire about a dash repair kit and was informed that it would need to be replaced. This repair will only cost me a mere $1000 bucks, this is TOTALLY unacceptable. I've read other complaints on this exact issue with cracks in the exact location. This is clearly a defect and needs to be recalled and repaired by GMC! I am very interested in pursuing a class action lawsuit.

I have driven GM products since I was 16 and never had this kind of problem. If this is an Obama vehicle (bailout), then I can imagine what the problem is. Or maybe it's a "made in China" vehicle. Can't we get good stuff anymore?

Back when I first discover the small crack, the dealership said it was not covered even though I have the 100,000 extended warranty. I recently discovered that this is a common problem with 2007 Yukons and other similiar models (Tahoe, Suburban). This is definitely a manufacturer defect and should be fixed. I am thinking about filing a class action and am willing to join in any class action law suit.

Not only did my dash crack, but then my cousin, who has the same year, make and model has cracks on his dashboard in the same exact spots. Then I went on youtube and found a video where a guy went around videoing all the 2007 gmc vehicles in his area that had their dashboards cracked in the same area. Clearly this is a defect and needs to be recalled and fixed for free!
