My AC went out last year at the same time and the dealer replaced the condenser. Now exactly the same time this year the AC went out again. Now the dealer said it is not covered under the warranty and I have to pay $1300 to get it done. There are so many problems with GM truck ACs that I'm thinking of not buying anymore GM SUVs or cars from this point.

Yukon SLT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission

Wish I would've found this site a year ago when purchasing my wife's 2015 Yukon SLT. She absolutely loves the truck, rides great, equipped just the way she wanted it.

Couple weeks ago she says the air isn't blowing cold anymore. Easy fix I tell myself being I just charged the freon in my truck. Run to the local auto store down the street, purchase a can of 134a, plug it into the fill port on the Yukon and squeeze the trigger. It feels like it's charging the system but not indicating anything like it did when I refilled my truck's system. Leave the Yukon running for about 15 minutes with A/C set as low as it can go and fan on high. Still blowing warm air! Go back to the auto store to purchase another can of 134a thinking maybe I have a faulty can or trigger system. Same result as the first time and still blowing warm air! 56,000 mile SLT, never abused, garage kept, always clean, well cared for truck. Find this website and every complaint is identical as mine.

Dropped the truck off at our Chevy/GMC store on Friday and CAN'T wait to see my bill. Sense the sarcasm?!?!?

I do business in the aviation world and our reputation for delivering customer service is the only reason we're still in business for 30 plus years. GM, this is a problem you need to stand behind.

A person buys a fairly expensive vehicle and you shouldn't expect to stick this kind of money into a vital part of a vehicle this early! I have had many issues with this vehicle! I also have a 2018 GMC 3500 sierra Denali and its sad, but I will never buy another GMC because of the continued problems with this Yukon! I will be looking at the competition next week and making a permanent change!!!!!!!!!! Goodbye GMC!

A/C suddenly started blowing warm air, it was +99F outside. Took it to the shop to find out that it was a small crack in the condenser on top right corner. After doing some research, many 5.3L engines have had this problem or broken A/C lines due too bad design. Likely it was fixed under extended warranty. I honestly think recall should be issued.

My truck is an 2015 Yukon with 70,000 miles on it and the AC stopped working so I took it to the shop to find out my condenser needs replacing and the service tech told me it is not under warranty but have had many problems with the condenser on this make and model vehicle . He also agreed with me that it should be a recall since there have been so many vehicle with the same problem . He wanted to charged 1200 to fix but drop it to 950 after I made a call to another repair shop who said they can do it for 950 which is too much for the repair of something that is gonna happen no matter what

I thought buying the best of the best in the GMC lineup doesn't account for much. 51,000 miles on the odometer and the air conditioning compressor ceases. Broke the belt and other related accessories. Cost me over $1000 to have fixed at a reputable repair shop here in town. Not very happy with GMC at the moment.

This is my fifth Yukon XL that I have bought since 2004 as much as this vehicle cost the damn AC should not have gone out already. We think it is the condenser and the service manger told me this is the third one in the last two weeks. This is the second thing that has gone wrong in the last 6 months, our radio screen when blank and we had to pay over $300.00 to get it re programmed, this is the most trouble I have had out of all the GMC vehicles have owned, and I will be looking to replace the vehicle soon and will look for something else. When you pay $76000.00 for a vehicle it's pretty ridiculous to have this kind of repair cost. My Company is Moore's Pest Mgnt. Inc.

I have no AC, it's been seven weeks without my car and still no word on when the part will be in. I have called GM every week and they cannot give me a date when to expect the part. I've been told it's nationally back-ordered and they can't do anything about it. I spent over 70k for this truck and its been nothing but problems. Will never buy a General Motors car again. This was my first and last.

2015 Yukon XL Denali Air Conditioner Repair – I recently had a GMC Dealer repair my A/C, it was blowing not cold air.

They found the A/C compressor line leaking. I was only told the line needed to be replaced. Upon completion, the invoice stated “recommend replacing line, adding bracket and charging”.

The invoice stated this “Replaced the A/C compressor line, added the stiffening bracket and charged the system full”.

The total cost was $694.06, with the bracket (NO. 23264893) costing just $10.99.

If this bracket is really needed, I think GMC should have notified me.

I am very disappointed!!

Driving home from my husbands surgery 3 hours away in 98 degree weather the air conditoner stops working!!! After perusing the internet I see this is a common complaint and it should be a recall. Most of the people had the same issue with the same car at about the same mileage!!!!! This is a no brainer. Make it a recall, this is a VERY expensive issue and I DO NOT have an extended warranty! 1100.00 is unreal but they know you can't live without the air conditioner in 100 degree weather!

Yukon SLT 5.3L V8

Bought 2015 Yukon in April of 2015. A/C stopped working in April of 2017. Bad condenser (leak). Not under warranty and paid over $900.00 to fix. On my way back from Florida with family yesterday and AC went out again!!! Drove last 75 miles in 90+ degree heat with no AC. I have purchases 3 GM SUV's in the past 14 years. First two have been just fine, the 2015 model in a dog! GMs definitely have issues with the 2015 models and need to make it right!

Update from Jul 10, 2017: Ended up being the refrigerant hose that runs from the condenser to the compressor. Another $530.00 for a total of about $1500.00 in 6 months just on the A/C.

Waiting for 4 weeks and no condenser part in sight. I am suing GMC next week for the cost to replace the defective part as well as the cost of my rental car. I intend to discover many things, including the date when the defect was discovered, as well as a complete list of all across the country who were affected. I believe that the company is trying to minimize this problem in an effort to diffuse the situation.

This is a known issue for these Yukons but GM won't fix it or offer a recall. The parts are on backorder and two months later we still can't get our AC fixed. I'd stay away from the Yukon if I were you, this should be a recall and be a free fix but instead I have to pay $850 to get it fixed, horrible service by GM

Just like everyone else I know that owns one of these, the condenser has failed. The part is faulty. The problem is so bad, no parts are available to fix it. The part is on national back order at GM and the aftermarket parts have now dried up too.

GM knows about this problem. They do not care. Do not buy one of these trucks. You will be sorry.
