ODI stated that the braking system is not adversely affected by failure of the ABS modulator and denied consumers petition.

ABS dashboard light came on one day, associated with a grumbling noise from the front wheels. The dealer said that sometimes these problems went away by bleeding the brakes, but that usually didn't work for long. I now suspect that the problem probably occurred before we bought the car, they bled the brakes to get the light off, and it "appeared" (re-appeared!) after I bought it...but I have no proof of that. The dealer wants $1500 to replace the modulator and accumulator. I've since seen enough complaints on this to suspect there is a problem with Honda ABS systems in general. I do not believe these are "wearout" components.
