Accord LX 4 cyl

  • Manual transmission
  • 270,000 miles

shuts off while driving but starts back up after wait

Car would suddenly shut off but then start back up. Seemed to shut off when driven distance (got good and warm). Regardless, my local mechanic could not find the fix. So took it to dealer. Dealer chargers $100 "diagnostics fee" up front. They can not find the issue until late. They say " bad fuel ignitor". $460 to replace!!!! plus $100 diagnostics. I did not go for that. Took car home and googled youtube video of how to apply heat transfer compound to fuel ignitor to keep it from over heating.

A $70 fix (max) that they tried to charge $560.

Accord LX 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 127,000 miles

This problem is not consistent. Sometimes it stalls at 10 mph, 25 mph or even 70 mph. The only thing common in all cases is after about 15 minutes of driving and ambient temperature was above 30 degrees F.
