Accord EX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 186,000 miles

I literally paid to fix my transmission, got it fixed, 43,000 miles later same thing. Transmission issue again. Warranty only covered up to 40,000 miles. I'm refusing to pay out another 1800 bucks.

Accord LXE 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 122,000 miles

After driving my first Honda Accord until it had 250,000 miles on it, and then owning a second Honda Accord as well, I always swore by Hondas. After a switch to Toyota, I decided to go back to Honda and purchased my third Accord, the 05 Honda Accord. Now with only half the miles of my first car, it has been recommended by Honda for me to have a transmission replacement done on the car. The car started just making an odd rattle when the car was idling but then it starting struggling with the shift from 2nd to 3rd gear as I was driving. I'm extremely disappointed to now learn that Honda has been having this problem for several years now. A local independent transmission mechanic in my area who previously worked for Honda for years is now applying his own update when rebuilding Honda's transmissions to fix this problem from occurring in the future in his rebuilt transmissions. I was shocked to hear that he can find a fix and Honda hasn't applied this fix to their own cars. It seems to me that Honda is burying their heads in the sand to hope that this problem goes away and is doing nothing more than offering some people extended warranties or discounts on new transmissions that will only fail again within a few years. I cannot believe that I am saying that I will never buy another Honda again. I used to believe that these problems only occurred in American built vehicles but now I see that I need to really do my homework before purchasing my next car and it won't be a Honda or Acura.

Accord LX 2.4L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 35,000 miles

Honda has a horrible reputation with automatic transmissions with class law suits. This car 2005 has only 35,000 miles on it, yet the same old problem that haunted the Accords up to 2004 is back again. I personally have only had the car 9 months and only 4000 miles, purchased from a dealer. Lucky me. I recommend not buying a Honda until they prove this basic problem with worthless transmissions is banished.
