Looks like I am another victim of the poor design or lack of quality of the A/C condenser. A/C quit and the service center gave the same excuse for the problem, "Looks like a rock must have put a hole in the condenser". I told them that I searched on line and found that this was one of the top complaints for this year Accord and asked them if Honda was doing anything to fix or make this right for their customers. The answer as I'm sure you already know by now is the same that everybody else has gotten, THEY ARE DOING NOTHING! I could get no satisfaction from them and I actually work for Honda!

I did ask for the part back and will take a look to see what exactly caused the failure. If I can see exactly where the failure occurred it may be possible to put some type of screen or other protection in place. I don't want to be like some of the others that have had this happen to them more than once!

This is the second time I have had to replace this vehicle's condensor because it was perforated by a rock while driving. Not only was the condensor hosed, but I obviously lost all of the refrigerant and the dryer unit had to be replaced. Second freakin' time!

My wife and I and our growing family are going to buy a mini-van (hey! stop laughing) and there is NO WAY I will even consider the Odysee no matter how highly it is reviewed. No more Hondas for me even though I have owned one since 1989. Done.

The A/C on my 2006 Honda Accord is out again, this is the THIRD time, Honda says it's not their problem since it was caused by road debris! They refuse to acknowledge it is a design FLAW. My car only has 42,000 miles on it! SHAME ON HONDA for not standing behind their product. It will be my last Honda and I never miss the chance to tell EVERYONE about it.

In June 2009 our 2006 Honda Accord air conditoner was blowing warm air so we took it in and they charged it at a cost of approx $250. We just took it in again for same reason on July 21, 2011 and now the condensor needs to be replaced plus another couple of related parts for a cost of $1500. I have read numerous complains about this same problem and feel Honda has a design flaw with an unprotected condensor. Fixing it for $1500 does not guarantee that it won't happen again. We have been Honda drivers for many years but this will probably be the last one we purchase unless someone makes this right.

Accord VP 4 cyl

The A/C in the car stopped working after about 2 years on my 2006 Honda accord, so I took it to the dealer. It cost me $100+ to find out that there was a dent in the condenser possibly due to a stone/debris. Now I see it is a common problem after looking online. I wonder why my dealer couldn't just check the front of the condenser before checking anything else. Probably that's what they did and still charged me over $100, not to mention the remaining cost of over $700 I still have to spend to fix the condenser. Didn't see this coming this early in a Honda.

This problem has occurred twice with this vehicle. Once last summer and again this summer - a $700 fix each time for one of Honda's top of the line Accords - Honda says it is not covered under warranty and that the problem is a rare occurrence - however I have read several other complaints from other people with the same problem. Honda needs to recall this item and stop ripping off their customers, a totally ridiculous and absurd problem that they should be embarrassed by. Unless Honda steps up to the plate and takes responsibility for their faulty design, I will NEVER buy another Accord or Honda for that matter.

Yes, everyone should report this issue to the NHTSA. Honda reimbursed me after I paid for the repair at the Honda dealership. It cost about $600. I had to call their customer service department. It is a poor design!! They need to put a grill in the front to protect the condenser from flying road debris. And we cannot buy any grills ourself because it would void the warranty!!

2006 accord less that 10,000 miles and air condenser damaged by road debris and not covered under warranty to the tune of $561.00. Complaints to Honda didn't work, they could care less that I have owned or leased 5 Honda's since 1999 for myself and family. Everyone who reads this should file a complaint with the NHTSA . They said the more complaints they receive the better the chance for something getting done

Accord LX 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 14,500 miles

On May 28, 2007 I tried using my a/c for the first time this season and found it did not work. I have owned this car for 1 year and one month at this point and have approx. 14,500 miles on it. I thought for sure it would be covered under warranty and that the worst that would happen is that I would have to make a second trip for servicing once the problem was diagnosed and a part ordered. After trying to get this covered with two dealers (one "local" which is 50 miles from my home, and the one I purchased it from 200 miles away) and contacting Honda Customer Service in Torrance, CA, I was told that since the problem was not caused by manufacturer defect it was my responsibility. I have done some online research since then and found that I am not the only one experiencing this and getting this response from Honda. I am especially frustrated since this is my third Honda! I guess customer loyalty doesn't count for much with Honda. My hope is that by making my problem with Honda public, and finding others with the same issue, Honda will realize that perhaps there is a design flaw and make good on their product.

I've had my 2006 Honda Accord less than a year and the A/C quits and is blowing hot air (not a good thing in Texas). Took it in this morning and got the news that a rock or road debris has put a hole in the condenser and the repairs are not covered under any warranty (not the original or the extended one that I bought). The repair was going to be $800. When I asked why the part was not better protected, the Service dept. did not have an answer - and said that this was an uncommon problem. B. S.!!! Based on what I've seen on this site alone, it has been a Honda problem for years and is still not fixed. However, I did find out that my comprehensive auto insurance will cover the repair - something to keep in mind and something I would not have known without the Service person mentioning it. I will be contacting Honda directly - and Consumer Reports too since they don't seem to know about it either.

Accord ES 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,700 miles

I bought my 2006 Honda Accord in April last year. On June 2006, my A/C condenser had a leak due to “road debris”. Honda dealer wouldn’t cover this because “road damage” is not under warranty. They charged me $700 to replace a new A/C condenser. Last week, I tried to turn on my A/C and found out the air was not cold at all. I took my Accord back to the dealer and learned that I was having the same problem. The dealer told me a small pebble might damage the condenser causing all the Freon to leak. I replaced two A/C condensers within a year. I had driven many other cars in the past and never had my A/C condenser break down because of a small pebble. Honda Accord has a design flaw on the venting system and should take action to fix the problem. The main problem of the venting system is it does not protect the A/C condenser from the small of pebbles or debris. The location of the A/C condenser allows the tubing exposed in front of the fins where it is likely to be hit. Another improvement on the A/C condenser is using a stronger material on this product so it is not that fragile.
