Accord EX-L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

I'm reporting this now because I just became aware that its a common problem that has been under reported because the dealer blames it on road debris and that could happen to anyone....right? But now I have a new Civic with only 27000 miles on it and its air conditioner doesn't work either! All I can say is they better not try to charge me to fix this car like they did on my Accord!

I have read several comments on the issue with the condenser on the AC for this vehicle and the dealer told me it is not covered under the warranty. They informed me that "a rock" hit it and caused a small hole which they state is not covered. I will be going back to the dealer to force them to cover this and be writing Honda to complain. They need to fix this problem. I have had a Honda in the past, for nearly 10 years and never experienced any problems. I am disappointed that Honda has not addressed this obvious flaw and taken steps to fix it so other Honda owners will not experience this issue. I will never buy another Honda.

I've only had my Accord for 18 months and was shocked when we took it to the dealership because the air conditioning isn't as cold as it was at the beginning of summer (same dealership that we took it to for the brake issue which they fixed) and was told there was a hole in the condenser caused by a rock (no diagnostic testing was done....he just saw oil on the condenser and said it was a hole)! This is also NOT covered by the warranty on the car.

I bought a Honda because of it's solid value and usually non-existent problems as long as you keep up on the maintenance. I am so disappointed that Honda there seems to be numerous complaints of this problem which I'm sure many owners aren't reporting on websites, just paying the $720.00 to have it repaired. I am taking my car to a reputable air conditioning repair station to have them run some dye through it to make sure this is a problem not covered by the warranty. I feel this is a MAJOR repair and it should be covered by Honda under the warranty as this is obviously a design flaw on their part. I will never purchase a Honda again because of the brakes and air conditioning problems, my next car will be a Toyota.

Accord EX 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10,777 miles

I purchased a new 2009 Honda Accord less than one year ago. My AIR CONDITIONER went out last Wednesday, I live in Arizona & It's not the coolest place to live especially in July. I took my car in to where I bought it, knowing I have a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. I was told a rock had pierced my condenser & put a pinhole in it, & Honda was not going to cover it under warranty. Honda wanted to charge me $650.00 to fix the condenser. This is an obvious design flaw, the flaw is that the front bumper airdam is wide open to any kind of road debris. The condenser sits right behind the open airdam with NO protection at all. This problem can happen over & over again, and Honda refuses to do anything about it! This should be a recall, I live in the desert, & there are rocks everywhere. Buyer be aware, this is wrong and Honda needs to pay not the consumer.

Accord EX V6

Already delt and delt with brake issues with Accord, now I have to deal with the compressor issue. Just took my 2009 Accord to dealer for AC not working and was told that a rock hit my compressor and the repair would be $660. After seeing this is an issue with Hondas, I called Honda and told them about the many problems that I have had with the car and would they offer any support with my current issue. They said they could do nothing for me and that I should file with my insurance company since it was an environmental issue. I told them I would trade the car and never own a Honda again before I contacted my insurance for their poor design, they just said "sorry". I have never had this many issues with a car in my life and have only had this car for 1 year. On my way to pick the car up and trade in!

I have had my car for two weeks and the air stops working. I go to Honda and I am told a rock went through the front grate and put a hole in the condenser - which is not under warranty. I went to Honda because they have a great track record. I have never heard of this happening, but apparently it is fairly common with the newer accords. I plan on complaining to Honda.
