In April of 2016, I turned the engine off. I heard the fan still running. I also smelled antifreeze. Following advice from a mechanic, I checked the fluids to learn that there was no antifreeze. I took the vehicle to two repair shops. Both put a pressure test on the vehicle and stated that it was holding pressure. I took it to the local Honda dealership on a Friday was told that they could not find anything. I told them that I smelled anti-freeze but did not see any leaking under the car. They asked me to bring it back the next week so they could have more time to analyze the complaint. They provided me with a loner car for three days. When they completed the diagnostics they called me and told me that I needed an engine, I was devastated. When I purchased the auto, in had 22,000 miles. At this time it had about 80,000. I purchased the auto October 2011. My thoughts were, this is unheard of. I still don't know what happened. It has never run hot with me. I have records of the maintenance. I am concerned that there is something about the auto that was not reported on car facts that I am not aware of. Every time I took it to the dealership for maintenance, I had to request that they stabilize the floor carpet. That concerned me. Why was the old removed and new installed. When posing that question, I was told that more-than-likely it was soiled beyond cleaning. But that is minor compared to having to purchase an engine for an vehicle that is known to endure thru 300,000+ miles during its life. Someone is not being truthful. I notified carl hogan that I will never purchase another vehicle from his dealership and I will do my part to ensure that those I come in contact with refrain as well, even if they have to travel to another city or state. Now, I must spend a minimum of 2,500 to rebuild the engine or up to 4,500 to purchase a new engine.

In regards to Honda safety recall JN9. Warranty extension: Sticking pistons rings resulting in high engine oil consumption. I had the car inspected by the Honda dealership in thousand oaks, ca. Starting back in December 28 2015. They did an oil consumption test that lasted 3,000 miles on the road and had me come in every 1000 miles of those 3K miles. Every oil consumption evaluation at the designed mark is burning through 1.2 qt of oil every 1,000 miles. They claim that is standard for the car to burn that much oil. My old 2003 V8 GMC Yukon does not burn any oil at all. Jut last week on July 19th 2016 my oil engine light came on, they (dealer) top me off with another 1.2 qt of oil off the records. No service report was taken. I do not believe a four cylinder engine should use that much oil unless indeed the piston rings are sticking.. please help!

Recently, my car started consume too much oil. To fix that, dealership advised to replace piston rings for better result. After we have new piston rings, in a month and so engine is making grinding noise while starting. Dealership said it wasn't happened due to piston rings replacement. But we don't have that problem before and now dealership can charge us up to $700 for new part.

This is a 2009 vehicle and I was notified August 2015 of a oil consumption recall but ask that you have 125,000 miles or less to fix however when you notify a consumer 7 years after it has been sold not to have that many miles I believe it's very unfair to the consumer because this is a problem I have had this this vehicle since ive owned it and now the dealership is refusing to fix it because of the mileage. There is no specific amount noted on how much oil consumption this car should have and Honda dealership is using that to their advantage and ask that I have 3/4 of a quart of oil consumption before they would even consider which is so unrealistic.

American Honda customer service says this car is inelegible for warranty repair because it exceeds their mileage cutoff.

2009 Honda Accord ex V6 has numerous problems at 130K...most originating at 70-90K. Excessive oil consumption (1 qt a week)! rough idle and acceleration, 6 lights lit up on dash, including check engine...comes on and off intermittently.....fouled spark plugs, ticking noise coming from steering wheel when turning, brakes must be replaced every 10K miles, loud ticking noise from engine, poor acceleration with missing/sputtering, smoke emits from tailpipes, vsc light stays on along with TPMS! the list goes on and on...I have been loyal to Honda since 1993 having owned many, especially Accord and this one takes the cake....the worst vehicle ever owned! do not buy Honda...they do not care about you and never will! I missed the class action lawsuit by a couple of months on the engine misfire deal...just recently was made aware of it. Never again Honda!!!!

Engine surged and vehicle sped up, on it's own, when pulling into a parking lot. Vehicle collided with boulders and railroad ties causing damage to the front, rear, undercarriage, and ruptured the fuel tank. When the vehicle came to rest, people were yelling for the occupants to "get out" of the vehicle, because fuel was gushing all over the ground. Driver is 84 and passenger is 82. Both sustained injuries to their spines and driver is still in the hospital as of 3/8/2015. Needless to say, this could have been much worse.

This was the second incident, while I was stopped at the red light, as the light turned green I let go of brake and applied the gas and suddenly the RPM went to almost red line and I was real lucky to be able to put the gear shifter in to neutral and pull over and turned the engine off, few minutes later started the engine and it was normal again, this was the second time in a month that this happened first time I didn't even apply any gas my foot was still on the brake pedal, I will be calling american Honda to report this also and will take my car to the dealer, but they said this problem is not going to show on the scanners, the service advisor told me that he has heard about this, but has not seen one in person, I told him to do a google search and he can see this problem with Honda's all over the internet. This is known as unintended acceleration that forced Toyota to recall their calls and now is Honda's turn to do the right thing before anyone dies.

On two occasions in the last six months, my 2009 Honda Accord experienced what I would describe as unintended acceleration while operating the vehicle at a low speed (first time turning on to a road; second time accelerating while attempting to park the vehicle). The engine surged with power and nearly redlined the tachometer. Each case I shifted to neutral to disable the drive train and then shut down the car; waited five minutes and restarted the car. I scanned the ntsb data base to look for similar reporting but found none. I bought this car used, in 2014, from a Honda dealership, with only 15440 miles on it. I drove it without incident for at least nine months. I now have about 25500 miles on it. I also own an older Accord and consider their vehicles to be quality products. I am not treating this as a complaint as much as I am trying to determine if similar incidents have occurred. Unlike the recent Toyota issues of floor mats inducing acceleration, the mat I used is secured to the floor of the car and does not come within three inches behind and below the vehicle's acceleration pedal. Of note, this model variant is powered by a 4-cylinder engine. Given the infrequency of this; I am wondering if this is a software glitch in the vehicle's computer command module.

I have had my Honda Accord 2009 V6 serviced for constant spark plug fouling and oil consumption. After a total of 10 visits, and over 40 days without my car over the course of 3 years, I had received a total of 3 spark plug sets, two oil consumption tests, lost two catalytic converters, and O2 sensors. Even with this constant spark plug replacement, it did not alleviate any issues. I kept breaking down on the side of the road with a rumbling, misfiring engine. After numerous trips to Honda, they refused to acknowledge the problem. After speaking to a district rep and being referred to paragon Honda in woodside, NY, they had agreed to replace my engine. They have now had it for two months. After receiving a new engine, I instantly received check engine lights stating the car was running too lean. After returning it for another week, I received it back, but this time, it would literally choke out and stall at every other red light. I returned to Honda with a check engine light for too rich and a car that would not make it more then a few miles if stop signs were involved. It has now been there for two weeks, on top of the two months. Plus the 40 days, that's a total of 4 lost months. I had to fight this weekend for a loaner car, which for them, seemed like a very difficult thing to do. Honestly, I don't know how the NHTSA has allowed Honda to keep their oil consuming dangerous cars on the road, I have broke down in the left lane of a 4 lane highway, and I know this should not be happening. I am a meticulous person, who constantly checks his own oil, plugs, filters, etc.... I monitor my O2 sensors for bad fuel trims constantly, and I have never been nothing but disappointed with this hunk of junk. I've filed consumer complaints, Honda complaints, to no regard.

Gas light came on 11.01.14, check book stated check gas cap and tighten which I did. Driving on highway next day and car made loud sound lots of smoke coming from under hood. I pulled over and call tow truck, vehicle taken to repair shop. He check oil stated that it was 3 quarts low, after further investigation it was shown that engine blown. I contacted Honda waiting a response.
