Driver side door actuator failed completely to the point where you couldn't open in from inside nor outside. Fix was; - Order new part - Remove driver seat - remove rubber seal - unscrew and pop out and disconnect the inside door panel (carefully, start at the bottom, interior trim tools help) - remove plastic covering - smash the lock/latch plastic unit/box using flat tip screwdriver and a hammer, being careful to stay clear of the area where the cables/links from inside handle go in (aim for the silver round latch if you can, study the new part for indications of where you need to chip away). Once you smashed the right part, door should unlock. - remove all screws to remove the unit. An impact screwdriver might be required, these are very tight, be careful not to strip them. - release the rod at the top where it connects to the outside door handle - remove unit - transfer inside handle cables from old unit to the new one - insert new unit and proceed in reverse order (minus the smashing) Search YouTube for this problem, some good videos there that will help you get a feel of what needs to be done.

Took car- 2007 CRV purchased through Showcase Honda Phoenix 85016 in 2016 for oil

change- have only used this location for service. Was told air bags and door locks were recalled, and that they could service those on this visit. Left my car there for those services. Picked up car and noticed weird stuff going on with locks as I drove. Called dealership and was told it was normal. Well we all get busy, so I just put up with crazy locks. Hope they didn't screw up the air bags too!! Today 7/13/2017 took car in for 60,000 service, (car at 60,511 miles) and asked them to check trouble with door locks.. Was told I need a new door lock, they would do it through recall but not give me a warranty. Said Honda only responsible for 90%... .want me to pay $7.00 a year for the warranty!! In the first place I had no trouble with my locks until that recall, then they replaced them. Nickel and Diming hoping no one notices I guess because I did have big expenses with that visit that would probably be normal -training, rear axels etc.. as you can tell, I don't drive to far every day based on mileage.. So my complaint is- although we all know dealerships charge more, but ultimately they perform- get what you pay for - Why is honda not backing up their product?? I was also told that the coupon I had was for service 15% off of any service....did not include repairs? ? Am I from Another planet?? Was not specified in the writing of the mailer sent to my address. And yes I did question Troy, my service rep...Really, isn't a repair a service??? Told my service rep, Troy, . HE tried to explain all this rhetoric to me.... This will be my last, and expensive visit to Showcase Honda. I actually trusted this dealership when I brought my car to them. Will add that the service reps are just middle men- deliver the bad news as it were. Guess my real complaint is with Honda in general..What happened to their great service and reputation? ?????

Concern about Customer Satisfaction and Safety:

My dealer was able to change the Driver side (not mentioning that there was a recall/fix). When I came in the service center they mentioned about looking at the driver side door lock (free of charge). When I got the vehicle back they did change it. After a while, the passenger side was malfunctioning, I called the dealership and later on involved Honda Canada. Buyers beware, they talk about safety and customer satisfaction, but again, they won't extend the extra mile of checking the other doors for this matter(their reason, its NOT broken - this came from the agent).

They'll talk about expired grace periods et al, my disappointment, we as drivers aren't asking for major work here, but only our safety and our family's safety. Why not go the extra mile, checking and replacing the other actuators - they fully know that there is an issue with them.

The door locks started making a loud racket driving and stopping - when you were driving over 10 mph locks are supposed to lock automatically and then when you stop and park unlock automatically. I took in to get other repairs done This week - October 27 2016 - and these locks also. Apparently there was an extended warranty that covered front driver actuator and right and left rear door locks. This extension warranty expired November 2015. Howdy Honda dealership here in Austin Texas was able to have front driver side door actuator replaced under warranty. The back driver and passenger doors will NOT lock. The new actuator was going off continuous in attempt to lock the back doors. I took back to Howdy Honda, they said they would reprogram my key to stop it from trying to continuously lock the back doors as it was apparent that the new actuator would wear out rapidly from doing this.

The dealership attempted to have American Honda assist in repair of rear left and passenger side door locks under this extended warranty. Honda will not make repair to rear door locks under warranty as that warranty expired November 2015 - the cost they gave was $76.00 for parts each door and $200.00 labor each door for a total of $552.00 plus tax.

I am on Social Security fixed income and cannot afford this expense of $552.00 to repair the locks on both rear doors.

In my mind this is a safety issue. My grandchildren ride in the back and I do not want them to open back doors while I'm driving. If I am driving and stop at a light or crossing, ANYONE can just open the back door and hop inside my car and car jack me. Also, with these doors not locking I cannot set the alarm. This affects my insurance, as I have car insurance stating I have an alarm system - well if my car is vandalized or stolen it will come back to my problem as I did not set the alarm - I CANNOT set the alarm as the doors will not lock in the back.

So, Howdy Honda showed me to open the back doors trip the latch on the outside door panel and that is a child proof safety latch that does not allow the back doors to open from the inside so my great grandchildren and grand children cannot open door while I'm driving. But the doors can be opened from the outside anytime.

And Howdy Honda did re-program my key so the NEWLY installed actuator would not be going off continuously and wear out - now the actuator DOES NOT WORK AT ALL - I have to push the lock button manually and it will lock the front driver and passenger doors... THE BACK DOORS DO NOT EVER LOCK. The NEW actuator is completely disabled so it will never wear out.

So Howdy Honda gave me the phone number of American Honda Customer Care - 1-800-999-1009. I called and spoke to Keshon today 10/27/2016 and explained the entire situation - he said at this time they - American Honda Customer Care cannot give any assistance to repair the back door locks. I explained the insurance problem if vandalized or stolen; I explained the safety issue of being car jacked or someone opening the back door at a stop and grabbing one of my kids from the back seat or getting into the car. This is so frustrating and I'm feeling very unsafe and I am really hoping other folks are out here that can and will offer suggestions on how to have this door lock repair completed and much less cost that I've been quoted of $552.00 - I think it should be repaired at no expense or minimal expense as it is all connected to the driver side actuator which they did replace but have now deactivated as it kept going off and on and would wear out the replaced actuator they just installed 10/26/2016.

Thank you for your time and I appreciate any response or assistance that is available on my 2007 Honda CRV door lock repair - all 4 doors - not just the front 2. Nancy M Austin, Texas

Back in 2015 I took my car into Pacific Honda for a problem not related with the door locks. During this time the clerk said that the 2007 CRV's has a recall on the drivers side door locks and that he will be changing the door lock. I said okay but nothing is work with my door locks. Well together with the problem I needed fixed they also replace the driver side door lock. Since they replace only the driver side door lock, all the rest of my 4 doors kept clicking on and off and open and close my door locks through out my ride. I called Pacific Honda and they said I should bring it back and that they will look into it. Well they said that they had to tighten the door lock because it was very loose and that it should be working okay. But when I took it off the lot for the second time, it started unlocking and locking through out my ride but the clocks would not visually open and close it just kept clicking unlocking and locking the door. Finally I called Pacific Honda and again said that the other door locks keeps unlocking and locking, so they said that I would need to bring it back to the service department. Since this is the 3rd time I would be taking it in for the same problem of the door locks, and to start there was nothing wrong with my door locks, being frustrated I asked to speak to a service manager because due to my work scheduling changing I would need a loaner car in order for me to take it in. Well the service manager never called me back to talk to me regarding the driver side door lock change and having the rest of my locks to malfunction. So the next time I called them back was about a week after I was trying to put a rebounder in my truck and holly behold my truck would not open, my passenger back door would not open and when I lock the car with the remote the driver side back door would not lock. So this is when I drove it into Pacific Honda and told them of the problem, but this time they started telling me the they only changed the driver side door lock and that each is an individual lock by giving me an example with my home locks which made me feel very stupid or naive. At this time, June 17, 2016, Pacific Honda charged me $132.00 for a diagnosis of my door locks and found that all actuator would need to be replaced which would be about $450.00 per actuator. That pissed me off, I have never brought in my car asking for the driver side door lock to be replaced, I did not even know about the recall until Pacific Honda said something, and why would a recall only replace 1 lock especially the master lock and expect it be compatible with all the rest of the locks that are not as new as the replaced one. Pacific Honda did not even know about the lawsuit that was settled after years of complaints, and they just let me be and did not even provided me any negotiation with this matter. They just dusted me off saying that the previous owner must have messed with the lock before I bought it, and now trying to put a third party into the picture instead of taking care of something that they did and not going to higher management to get the problem solved. I will never take my care bak to Pacific Honda and I will go out to another Honda to purchase my next car. The Honda's really sells its self but if the service department is not servicing what needs to be done and only was high prices they will eventually fail to do any business accordingly. Thank you for letting me share my frustrations!!!!

Last year my door locks went crazy Honda thought it was my key battery at first. Doors locked, alarm went off and I couldn't get alarm off in a hospital parking! An ambulance driver going by pulled over to help me. Finally got the alarm off and I went straight to auto parts(closer than dealership and in my town) got a battery and headed to the next town to the Honda dealership. They were actually really nice and let me know there was a recall on the locks. Honda is offering to fix the driver side lock mechanism because it is what controls all of the locks. We had that done, no charge, it's a recall.

This year about six weeks ago the locks in my CRV went crazy for three straight days. Locking and unlocking at different speeds, freeway, street wherever. (By the way CRV lock systems can be reset. I call my car the stalker car because the doors would lock after anyone pulled a door shut and the car started to go. Honda, for free, reset the system to lock only after I got the car up to a certain speed-this was last year after the first lock fiasco) I called Honda and they offered to fix/replace all of the door locks for a one time fix as a courtesy.

I think for all you folks getting charged on the first fix it might make sense for you to find out the recalls out there for your cars. And even if not a recall it is a serious problem and it's the right thing for them to fix it.

I am in the process of getting an appointment with Auburn Honda(good service) in California to fix the locks. It is interesting to note that on day four of the crazy lock issue 6 weeks ago my back windshield wiper also went crazy for a day. I forgot to mention that to the dealership. Some kind of short? I don't now but hope to find out.

I am wary of buying another Honda. This is our 4th one but....my driver seat is soooooo uncomfortable and the leather doesn't wear well, which are, of course, separate complaints.

My locks went crazy for three days! Off, on, off on-different driving speeds different road conditions. On day four the back windshield wiper went woncky as well. I called Honda as they replaced the lock(actuator/lock?) on the driver's side last year as part of a recall (or my very friendly insistence that it was a Honda problem and nothing I had done) is my understanding, and they agreed to do a one time fix and work on all the locks. I have to schedule to get it done. My dealership is really friendly but I am still not sure I will buy Honda and this is my 4th one!

I purchased my 2007 Honda CR-V brand new and recently have been having problems with my automatic door locks. While driving the doors will unlock on its own and I feel unsafe as I travel with my grand children and worry when the doors will unlock on its own. I also re-lock the door but as I keep driving the door will again unlock on its own. I also noticed that when I park my car, I always lock the door yet I return to my car only to find it unlock again so it seems the the automatic door locks just does its own thing. I now can't leave anything in my car because of my fear of having it stolen. So yes my car is always empty. I feel very unsafe with this occurring and have tried to call around on getting a solution, yet no one here knows anything about how to fix it. If I go to the dealer here on Kauai it will be very costly. Please advise.

I have gone to several Honda dealers as well as individual car mechanics. The mechanics have informed me that this is a manufacturing problem. However, when I have gone to the Honda dealers, they really do nothing to help or explore the situation unless I pay several hundred dollars-of which I do not have- in order to tell me what I already know.

I am a long time owner of many Honda's for at last 35 years. I have never experienced this type of problem, and have never had this type of dismissive reaction from the Honda dealers.

This is a safety situation, as I carry young children in the passenger seats. The locking system, at first, locks upon moving, then makes a loud noise and unlocks the doors. I feel very uncomfortable with young children in the passenger seats, as this could be very dangerous.

I would appreciate an immediate response and solution to this problem. The problem actually did begin in 2013, and I had tried to explore a local resolution to this matter. However, I am at my wits end, and have gone on-line in order to explore other options.

I believe in the Honda product, and hope this will be a positive resolution to this dangerous matter.

Thank you for your immediate response.

After the vehicle is started and the automatic transmission is engaged into drive, and I attain the required speed limit (somewhere between 12 & 20 MPH), the doors automatically lock, front & rear. The doors do not unlock again until the vehicle comes to a complete stop and the shift lever is engaged into the "Park: position. However, at approximately 90,000 miles, (two months ago) the door's locking systems, in all doors, started to engage and disengage when slowing down, stopping and starting up again to drive. The plastic lever (Back & Red) on the door handle assembly does not move, but the mechanism inside the doors always engages and disengages.

The doors cannot be opened either, A VERY FALSE SIGNAL OR SECURITY. I come to a stop and hear the disengaging thinking the door is open but it is not. A passenger new to my problem would think they could leave the vehicle, but not so. The doors will not open until I put the shift lever into park position. I have read many, many instances of this exact problem with 2007 CRV's and also heard there is an active class action lawsuit regarding this matter. Please inform as to the status of this case and what Honda has proposed to do.

The front passenger door locks immediately (2 seconds) after it is unlocked so passengers are unable to enter or exit the vehicle without reacting instantly.
