2017 CR-V abruptly applied brake and came to a complete stop by itself as my husband was driving on a small avenue... fortunately there was no one behind us - neither in front of us!! The car stopped for no reason. I was in the back seat with our 6-month-old infant and hit my head on my husband's front seat with the abrupt stop. My husband was startled as he had not done anything!!!

Dealership had the car for over a week and found nothing - they said there are no trouble codes in the system, and that the brake mitigation system is working as designed. Well, clearly it is not, since it decided to bring the car to a complete stop without having any obstacles in front of it! We were passing a small bridge and there was a metal plate - I mentioned that to the dealership since I saw similar cases here, but they did not give it much thought.

I have been a Honda customer for a very long time - this is my 5th CR-V - and I am scared to drive this one now, and it is our only car. Called America Honda Customer Service and received mixed advice - about a week ago they told me to call them back if the issue was not solved so they could escalate the problem to the General Manager, and then today they just told me they CANNOT escalate since no problem was diagnosed (!!!) and that it is up to the dealership to "maybe" negotiate with me to trade it in since it is a lease. VERY DISAPPOINTED, lost confidence in Honda... and they seem to be pushing old customers towards other brands like Toyota maybe.
