The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 65 -70 MPH and attempting to pass another vehicle, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond and decelerated unintendedly. The contact stated that the vehicle gradually decelerated from 65 MPH to 40 MPH. The check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the message 'Emission Failure" and other unknown messages were displayed. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the vehicle would not exceed 45 MPH. The warning lights remained illuminated while driving. The contact stated that when the warning lights turned off, the vehicle responded as needed while driving. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the spark plugs were replaced; however, the failure reoccurred intermittently. The contact stated that the failure then became more frequently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

Fuel injector for Cylinder 3 failed. This has been a 6 month issue starting with simple cold start issue misfire with cylinder 3 (didn't know this was the issue then). I mentioned this issue at my last oil change (about 3-4 months ago) due to it getting worse, and was told there was nothing wrong with my car. A couple months later, I noticed my AC had quit blowing. Fast-forward to 1 week ago, I got on the interstate and tried to go around someone when my car went into full idle mode because of the misfire with cars speeding behind me and a car to the right of me and could not get over for safety. This almost caused a crash on the interstate due to the misfire issue. I took my car into the dealer today (December 5th, 2022), and was told it was a misfire with cylinder 3 (code P0304), and it was the fuel injectors. I did have them fix the issue since I need the vehicle. Honda Recalls specifically state that there is a misfire issue with P0304, but says it does not include my VIN. I believe this is an error on their behalf since half of the issues described in the recall notice describes the issues of what was happening with my vehicle.

In May of 2022, my CRV showed many warning messages for nearly every system in the vehicle including emissions, brakes, power steering, vehicle stability assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation and several others. A friend had the same thing happen except he was traveling at 70mph and experienced a very serious, life-changing car crash. I had my vehicle towed to Honda dealer and was told there was a misfire on cylinder 3 (PO303) and that cylinder 1 looked worn as well. They replaced spark plugs on those cylinders (though I requested they do all 4 at once) and the A/C unit. Apparently this is a "known problem" to Honda but I was never told things to watch for, or to bring the vehicle in for service, until it was inoperable. The dealership gave me a copy of Service Bulletin 19-032 by Honda-- dated June 18, 2019 and said the "good news" was they would extend my warranty for an additional year. If there were another issue, I would not be on the hook for repairs. Only 6 months later, all of the same warning lights came on again-- this time as I was driving my 3-year-old to daycare. I pulled over and again had the vehicle towed. The dealer reports the same diagnostic codes and issues, but this time says their repair flow chart indicates the next step is a $1500 fuel injector replacement. Somehow, despite being distinctly related, it is not covered by the extended warranty. To my understanding, fuel injectors do not generally need replacing in my area before about 100,000 miles. My vehicle has 70,000 miles on it. My question is, what if this costly repair works for 6 months & then I have the same systems malfunctioning again" What's next on the flow chart & how much will that cost? Most importantly, what if I'm driving at 70mph with my toddler in the back seat when the brake systems go out?" Honda knows this is a serious problem & should have responded more meaningfully years ago. I've loved my CRV but can no longer drive it with confidence.

The issue was reported on 08OCT2022 to a Phil Hughes Honda. The vehicle was brought into the Phil Hughes on 13OCT2022 due to all the lights on the dash were lit up but was drivable to the dealer. Prior to completing the Service Bulletin 19-032, Phil Hughes Honda diagnosed with P0301 (Cylinder 1) misfiring and P0172 (fuel system too rich). The lead service tech has already mentioned the root cause is the fuel injectors causing the misfire and fuel system too rich. I had the vehicle for less than one day after the completion of the service bulleting 09-032. There was lost of power on the road on three (3) different occasions. Loss of power means the vehicle went into "limp" mode during normal road driving and dropped acceleration from normal speed 60mph to ~20mph and continued to decelerate to about ~10mph. The vehicle was pulled over, turned off for about 5 minutes, and turned back on with all the warning lights remaining lit. All the warning lights remain on and was diagnosed again by Phil Hughes Honda and, this time, they got more codes. But, this time there were misfires with Cylinder 1, 2, 3 AND 4 which would be codes P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, and P0172 fuel system too rich. Again, the root cause has been diagnosed to be the fuel injectors. Case # [XXX] is open Honda of America has been contacted and Case # [XXX]. Honda of America classifies fuel injectors as an emissions part which is hard to believe as fuel in delivered to the engine which the engine is part of the power train. Honda Service Bulletin 19-032 says the POSSIBLE CAUSE is "Based on certain driving patterns and environmental factors, the DTC's state above may set or whirling noise may occur). This is not true and the true root cause is fuel injectors. This is a HIGH RISK that is waiting to occur and there could have been a FATALITY as the vehicle dropped in deceleration in the middle of the street and someone could have gotten rear-ended and killed. All 8 systems associated with collision avoidance, lane change warning, tire pressure, cruise control, braking system, and engine electrics are flashing warning lights about 80% of the time. The car runs but these systems are compromised (cruise won't work, emergency braking doesn't work, etc.) The dealer has told me different things each time he has diagnosed it, the latest being a need for new turbo units, but the number of people who have this problem and get different "solutions" from dealers only to have the problem return indicates a systemic problem.

on 5/7/2022, noticed vehicle overheated with no warning indicators other than temp gauge had risen. upon checking vehicle noticed cooling fan was not running and found coolant low. fan would run when AC was engaged clearing possible faulty fan. upon adding coolant, the fan engaged itself. This appears to be a flaw in the design of the electrical system of the vehicle that could lead to disabling the vehicle due to overheating with no prior warnings or indicators, especially since the fan is unable to run when the coolant is low to help keep engine cool.

On Saturday June 18, 2022 at 9:56 a m I was pulling my 2017 HONDA CRV into a parking space at my local Food Lion in Madison, NC. As soon as I took my foot off the gas pedal and slowly pressed the brakes, the engine immediately revved up, accelerated highly and lurched forward not stopping until I hit an unoccupied vehicle head on in front of me. At the same time side swiping an unoccupied vehicle to the left of me. Thankfully no one was injured. Total of {3} vehicles involved causing several thousands dollars of damage. Was inspected by the police and there were no warning signs; it just happened immediately. When researching on line about problems of HONDA CRV"s this issue was listed numerous times: UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. Something needs to be done about this problem before people are killed!

The contact's mother owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in the garage, there was a strong fuel and oil odor coming from the vehicle. Upon opening the hood to inspect the vehicle, it was discovered that the engine oil also had a fuel odor. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate properly while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the computer software needed to be updated to correct the failure. The contact stated that the software update was completed. No further information was available. The vehicle was taken back to the contact's residence; however, the vehicle later failed to start. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact also stated that the battery had previously failed on several occasions and was replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000. The VIN was not available.

During a recent vacation my husband and I were on 95N just outside Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. My husband attempted to change lanes into the passing lane. As he depressed the gas pedal and turned into the lane, our Honda stalled and would not respond to any demand for acceleration. By the time we realized what was happening we'd gone from 65 miles per hour to about 30 miles per hour in a heavy flow of traffic, with oncoming traffic decelerating quickly and coming dangerously close upon the rear of our vehicle. There happened to be repairs to the left of our lane, with associated traffic cones so no cars were in that lane, and we were able to drift into that lane and restart our car. This happened once before on a very slow travel lane in my neighborhood and I didn't connect that the car had stalled. In retrospect this is the second occurrence. While I will certainly be taking the car for service at the Honda dealer, I also researched and found out that Honda is aware of this issue and does not deem it a safety issue, thus not using any sort of safety recall. My experience was harrowing, and certainly could have resulted in our own impact and indeed a larger impact on 95N after our stall. This was no joke and luckily my husband did not panic and we were able to respond and drift to safety. If that lane to our left had not been closed, no way could we have made it to the right side of the highway to the "slow" side of the road.

This vehicle equipped with a 1.5 L Turbo has fuel diluting the oil and causing stalling on occasion and acrid smells inside the vehicle. I changed my oil at 70% reaming life, but only 3,000 miles driven because the oil dip stick was 1/2 inch above above the full mark. The performance has downgraded and diluted oil can possibly cause a catastrophic engine failure while in operation. This has been going on since I have purchased the vehicle, but not to this extent. Honda has not recalled the vehicle, claiming it is not safety related, yet apprx 350,000 models were recalled in China for basically the same problem. I now will have oil samples tested from this time on to further verify my claim

I was driving and suddenly, for no apparent reason, all of the hazard and warning lights started flashing. I received all of the following errors on the dash: "Emissions System Problem" "Brake System Problem" "Brake Hold System Problem" "Power Steering System (EPS) Problem" "Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem" "Hill Start Assist Problem" "Adaptive Cruise Control Problem" "Collision Mitigation System Problem" "Road Departure Mitigation System Problem" "Keyless Remote Not Detected" "Electric Parking Brake Problem" "Tire Pressure Monitor Problem" I was then informed by the dealership that there was a software update that would solve the problem. After completing the software update, the error lights and flashing started again a couple weeks later. After taking the vehicle back to the dealership for further testing, it was advised that new fuel injectors are needed. I was appalled by this and took the vehicle to an independent auto repair shop and after more testing was advised again of needing new fuel injectors. This ultimately cost me $1500 and can't fathom needing new fuel injectors at 50,000 miles.
