Civic DX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

No one believes me when I tell them that my 2001 HONDA is falling apart. But the worst is the recent headliner fabric that is falling down in the back mostly, and now in the front. They must have put this car together with Elmer's craft glue. I am still driving it around not fixed...

Civic DX 1.7L Sohc

  • Manual transmission
  • 50,000 miles

My car looks like crap with all the glue coming off on the roof and the doors. I've seen civics in southern Cal that look much worse. I'm debating whether to tear off the headliner or replace it myself.

Civic LX

  • Manual transmission
  • 96,000 miles

Right now it's falling down at the back near the rear window about an inch worth is coming away. It started as a small piece but continues to slowly grow, especially if I drive with the windows down... and in southern California the weather almost always allows for windows-down driving.

I can't wait to relive the days when I was 16 driving my first piece of crap car that had a sagging ceiling held up by bobby pins... Only now I'm an adult and this car is only 7 years old.

Taking the car to the mechanic tomorrow for some other issue (check engine light is on).

Civic LX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

My headliner is falling down above the rear window, and I have air bubbles several places under the headliner on the ceiling. The material on my sun visors is disintegrating and leaving what looks like moth holes. Ive tried gluing, but the material is so thin and dried out you cant even handle it without having it crumble apart in your hands.

Civic EX Vtec 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

I still owe a grip on this POS Honda and its already falling apart on me inside out. I've only had this 01 civic for 2 1/2 years. Its ridiculous, I regret ever buying a Honda or listening to anyone who ever said hondas are good cars. Ha i laugh! The back headliner is falling apart its so retarded. The visors have fallen apart, the mirrors fell out. The ac vent switch thing that directs to air has fallen off. hondas are piece of sh*ts!!

Civic DX

  • Automatic transmission

I noticed the headliner drooping in the back window where exposed to the sun. Tried unsuccessfully to glue it - there isn't enough material to reattach.

Civic EX 1.7L VTEC

  • Manual transmission
  • 150,000 miles

Headliner fabric has deteriorated above front and rear windows where exposed to sun/heat. The thin foam under the fabric decomposes and causes the fabric to separate and hang down. Sun-visor fabric has holes (looking like moth-eaten material )on side exposed to sun when visor is down.

Civic LX Non Vtec I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

I give a wave to other Civic drivers whose headliner sags...I'm still waiting for someone to wave back. I noticed it one day as I was driving on the highway with the windows open and it caught my flapping around in the rear view mirror. WTF? what is this? a '76 Malibu? I didn't realize headliners were still an issue. What can I say, I bought the car new and I swear to everyone that it's great...but it's not. Look for my other posts, like the one that's possibly going to make me $3,000 dollars poorer. I think you all know what I'm talking about. F'd up.

Civic EX 4DR 1.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

It's one thing to save money on producing the cars, but it's another to make them cheaply made. I wasn't too fond the hard plastic they use on the dashboard and glove compartment, but I had gotten over it. Anyway, the headliner is getting worse. Any suggestion on fixing it w/o putting a putting a bullet through my wallet? Oh and my side door liner is bubbling. -__- not cool.

problem #3

Dec 012005

Civic EX

  • Manual transmission
  • 120,000 miles

The headliner is falling down at the front of the ceiling right before the moonroof as well as the very back right by the rear windshield. I've tried glue, glue sticks, hot glue and super glue to no avail. This was a poor design. Honda, I wish you had glued this better, now my roof looks very silly and it is frankly just annoying.

Civic LX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,500 miles

I never had a car before that the liner fell off especially when i only have a little over 29,000 mile,s. I got a price on the liner for over $500 and that doesn't include labor. The labor is around another $500. I call Honda and they said they didn't have any complaint's and then i call Auto Fair in Manchester NH and they said the car was old. I had much older car than this one and that never happened. The material Honda use is very thin and cheap and this will happen to other car soon.
