I take excellent care of my car. It looks almost new (2005) but when I get gas I have to get out ( NJ) and open the trunk pull back the inside to release the gas cap. Then i have the go back in & twist the cord in the hole to lock it because i am NOT riding around with the flap open. It would look like crap! I did nothing to cause the cord to break so why would I pay the Honda dealer almost 400.00 to fix it

The fuel door won't unlatch. I think honda should make a recall about this problem because I don't have that kind of money to fixed it and it didn't happen to one person, why does any body do something about it.

Civic LX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

2005 Honda Civic LX go to get gas and the fuel door wont pop open. I have to pop my trunk and detach the spring mechanism to open the fuel door. Called Honda and it's quoted as $250 to fix. I saw multiple complaints on the net and the $20 quick fix that entails taking off a ton of interior trim is too much for me to try. Does anyone know if there is a chance for a recall on this?? My car )bought used)only has about 45000 on it?? I fear the money pit is opening!!
