unnecessary deployment of air bags

I am the unhappy owner of a 2009 Honda Civic Coupe. I was driving on my way to work the same way I go everyday and was about to make a right hand turn. While slowing down to turn going approximately 15 mph over a grate in the ground in DC. All of a sudden my passenger side curtain airbag deployed. I pulled over to the side and saw that there was a small chunk taken out of the rubber of the rear passenger tire of my car but that there was no other damage to the vehicle. Checked the grate and nothing obtruding from the grate or pieces of grate missing, etc. Doesn't make any sense other than metal sticking up from the ground or something but there wasn't anything when I looked. Had to get towed (thank goodness that was covered by insurance). Honda dealership said there was enough of an impact to deploy the airbags so I now have an "accident' on my insurance, rate went up and all for nothing! Now my car will show it got in a "wreck" so resale value is down the drain. SO furious. I want the airbags to work when I need them, not when innocently driving to work and not even having an impact. I would have most certainly cringed thinking "oh no, that's a huge bump" or something! Nothing, it was a beautiful day, sunroof open, singing my favorite song and BAM my airbags are out, I'm dazed and my ears are ringing - called my fiance and told him I thought I got in a wreck but there were no other cars - he thought I was crazy. I cringe every time I go near a small pothole in anticipation of possible airbag deployment. My exact same car (make model year) was recalled for premature airbag deployment but for a different manufacturing location. I think they got it wrong at both! So mad that Honda won't do anything about it or look into the possibility of there being a problem at the other manufacturing location. Will NEVER buy Honda again. Hoping my car gets totaled while parked in DC or something so I can get rid of this horrible machine.
