The car started exhibiting signs of electrical issues like unable to start, unable to turn on, faster draining batteries in 2022. These issues lead to numerous appointments and visits to dealer and specialty shops. The battery, Starter, Alternators have all been tested and replaced costing thousands of dollars. The problem and escalated unabated despite these costly interventions. The electrical issues became a safety issue this week when after being jumped started, the electrical systems became unstable when driven. The radio and display cut in and out and started shaking when slowing or stopping. The car seemed about to cut out and disabled in traffic. When I returned home, the car was again completely dead. Another visit to dealer after previous visits mandated an -??Overnight Draw Diagnostic Test-?? costing $162.50 to throughly investigate this issue. This overnight test required me to rent a car while this diagnostic was being conducted. The Honda dealer reported the cause and remedy of their test as Replacement The Right Front Outside Door Handle due to a -??Large Parasitic Draw caused by The RF OUTSIDE SMART HANDLE DRAINING THE BATTERY REC TO REPLACE HANDLE AD FIRST STEP IN REPAIRS-??. -??Replaced the Right Front Door Handle, Reinstalled Door Panel, Set Vehicle up for A Draw Test, ReChecked and found No Excessive Draw At this time. Confirmed Repairs. The total cost of this repair was $836.64 pretax. Additional cost included rental car $462 This repair is clearly attributed to the Manufacturer and should have been covered as such. Additionally, given the escalating problems this design and engineering cost, it could be attributed to accidents and deaths.

I bought the 2015 Honda Civic in 2019 and had to replace the transmission in 2020 and now in February of 2023 I need to replace the transmission again. No service lights came on for transmission until the shop told me my trans was going out and I would need to replace it again. He said it is a common problem for the 2015 Honda civic because of the CVT transmission.

Car key remotes both failed within the 7 years. They had to replace the SOP Fuse Box and Imobi Unit. The parts should not have failed within this time. The remote would open the trunk when the open and close feature was lightly touched and created a safety issue for the driver to secure the car and the alarm feature was not working. It was very costly to repair. With the cooperation of the car dealership, they reduced the cost to about $1300. This occured in August 2022.

It took 4 tries before my car would start. I went to auto zone to have the battery & alternator & starter tested. Battery was dead so I had it replaced. A week later, it took 4 tries before my car would start. I took it to auto zone for testing again. Alternator was bad so I got it replaced. A week later it took 3 tries before my car would start. I went to auto zone for testing again. Alternator was bad so I had a shop replace it again. A couple days later my car wouldn't start. I was stranded & needed to get to work. The mechanic that replaced the alternators for me came to my rescue. He tested & looked up the problem. He thought the sensor on the black terminal of the battery was bad. I ordered 1 & got it replaced. My car wouldn't start the next day after work & I was stranded again. The mechanic told me to unplug the black sensor so that my car would start & I could get home safely. The next day I took it to the shop & more tests were run. Finally he told me that I need to go to a dealership & tell them I need a TSB firmware update & that there was nothing he could do for me. Honda needs to be held accountable for this.

My 2015 Honda Civic has 69070 miles on it. My car will straight out just stop in the middle of the road. The breaks and gas will stop engaging. This has been happening since late March of 2021, and continues to happen at least once a week.There-€™s still power as the outside lights, radio, dash lights are all still on and functioning. I took the car to a Honda dealership and they said it was the REC VSA modulator. So I have had to replace the REC VSA modulator. The car ran beautifully for a whole week, then it started again. I took it to another auto shop and had them diagnose the car and they changed the MAP sensor, and the main engine bay fuse. I-€™ve had the alternator and started checked and they-€™re both fine. The 9th gen honda civics have electrical and computer issues and Honda should be held responsible because they-€™re a safety issue. I am so afraid of what could happen I only take my car to work and home. Something needs to be done about these issues.

Complaint to NHTSA ref. 2015 Honda Civic-ex (VIN: [xxx]) please note that our referenced vehicle contains a design flaw and product defect. The car was not starting due to a major electrical problem. The technicians at a Honda certified dealer diagnosed the problem as a product defect associated with the right front door handle touch sensor. According to an advisor at Honda of escondido (California), the door handle sensor failure constituted both a hardware and software malfunction. The advisor indicated that this is a safety issue and that he has not seen this phenomenon occur with respect to a Honda Civic during his many years at Honda of escondido. It appears that the amount of current (amp) draw was the main culprit in depleting the battery?S power capacity and degrading it to a point that the car would not start as a result of the product defect. It also caused the vsa (I.e., the vehicle stability assist) system to malfunction and behave erratically as well. In our assessment, this situation constitutes a public interest consideration as the safety, well-being and welfare of every owner is at risk when driving the same 2015 Honda Civic model. In our judgment, a recall is required to prevent severe accidents from happening and to preclude this highly risky and dangerous safety situation from recurring. Thank you for taking the necessary correction action. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Re. 2015 Honda Civic-ex (VIN #: [xxx]) dear sir, our referenced car has had numerous defects and deficiencies and is currently inoperable. While we've had to repair the car on numerous occasions within the past couple of years, what has occurred within the past 6 months has been nothing short of a nightmare experience; starting in February and continuing to the present day. There is something structurally wrong with the Honda Civic as there appears to be oem systems and components related defects and malfunctions that are unusual, anomalous and totally abnormal. In one instance, the car became very erratic and was shaking and aerodynamically unstable and it almost lost control, as the steering column became very rigid/stiff and was not able to initially rotate/torque the steering wheel to negotiate certain corner turns. Numerous dashboard lights flashed simultaneously including, but not limited to, check engine sign, vsa, TPMS, hsas, power steering malfunction, exclamation sign, etc. We've replaced the alternator II) replaced the battery five times; and III) conducted the requisite alignment adjustments and tire pressure and rotation applications and other related repairs, etc. None of the above repairs fixed the root causes of the problem. We're not able to open the car doors at the present time as the vehicle is not in an operational mode. This car is potentially a "lemon" and frankly whatever turns-out to be the root cause of the problem(s), this model vehicle should be a candidate for a recall. Please do the right thing and take the necessary corrective actions to have Honda satisfactorily resolve this matter asap and we request NHTSA to report this incident so that it doesn't happen to another driver as this is a safety issue. Thank you for your prompt and professional cooperation. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I bought my car new and have had it only 3 1/2 years. My issues started with my battery failing twice within a year of each other. I had to replace all 4 tires with new ones only a year after buying it because the tires were so worn down as if they were not new to begin with. Then I had a system failure that required my car to be taken in to service for a couple days. Then more recently I had a transmission piece failure that emptied my transmission fluid to the point that I was driving on the road and my car slowly stopped moving which eventually had me stranded on the side of the road for a couple hours until I was able to get towed. Honestly one of the worst experiences in my life. I was by myself on the side of a wooded area while it was getting dark. When I had my car not start it was in a stationary potion. When my car had a weird system molt down I was driving and when the transmission started acting up I was also driving. When driving I was on a main street and had to pull over to the side of the road.

To whom it may concern: I have had my 2015 Honda Civic coupe since October of 2015. First issue, since I bought the vehicle I have noticed a strange clicking sound that happens once when you switch from reverse to drive. For example, I will put out of my drive way in reverse, go a couple yards in reverse, then come to a complete stop and switch it to drive. After I switch it to drive and then drive a couple yards forward, a weird clicking sound comes up, it is towards the front passenger side of the vehicle. I am not sure if it is an axle or hub, or knuckle. The second issue is, my ignition switch. It tends to heat up after a few minutes. The reason I say a few minutes is because, ill put the key into the ignition switch, then turn it and drive off for a couple of minutes around the block. Then ill come to a stop, put the car in park, and remove the key from the ignition, and the key will be extremely hot. The first time it happened, I put my keys in my jean pocket and it burnt me. It wasnt a bad burn to where it left me a scar or anything, but it was still a burn that is not normal.

Radio and navigation system will freeze and become unresponsive after using the hands-free phone option to terminate a call, or access siri while the vehicle is in motion. The system will display an active call, even after the call has been terminated on the phone. Attempting to change the audio input through the dash interface or steering column controls will not change the source. Attempting to force the system to accept input from an attached phone by plugging in through the usb port will not load the device. A device attached via usb has the same issue, and will not reset if the device is unplugged. This will reset only after turning off the vehicle and restarting after a few minutes. So far, only the audio interface is affected.
