Got off of a 12 hour night shift at work and got a call from my spouse, stating that the car had a bunch of errors on the display and that the car was not driveable. First thing that came to mind was issued with the computer. Had to go to where the car was wait for the tow truck and went down to Honda. The next day I got a call that the wiring harness had been chewed through by rodents. I started to do some research online and come to find out this is a common problem by not only with honda but many other car manufacturers. Whats worse is honda states its not covered by warranty even known this is a known issue and a safety issue. It is their eco friendly way of saving the planet which is fine and dandy but it cost me the customer some serious cash out of pocket.They need to add this to warranty because this is just total BS.

Honda using a soy based wiring harness that attracts rodents ....repair not under warranty.

Turned car on and all the warning alarms were going off; brake system; hill assist problem; emissions system problem; vehicle stability problem; emissions system problem. Had the car towed to the dealer to find a rat had eaten the engine harness and coils, 1500.00 dollars worth of damage, had to turn it into my ins and pay 500.00 deductible, car was at the dealer for 5 days. Did some research on this issue and found a class action started that since the car makers are using eco friendly coils and wires made of soy the rats are attracted to them; honda says nothing to back this up.

Honda use soy on wires because is cheaper than plastic ,but it attract rats and rodents that love to chew on it .witch result in car crash and expensive repairs .I have a new 2016 honda car 6 months old witch I had to pay 1481 $ even though I have a 5 years engine warranty.
Honda makes money out of those repair an average of 100 cars come to every dealership every year :

A month later my car had all the same issues on start up; shaking, emissions alert warning; hill assist alert warning; power steering alert warning; I opened the good to see a rat had gotten to my car again. Had the car towed to dealer for a second time. This time they stated there wasn't as much damage as the first time, car was at the dealer for one day and cost me $260.00 in repairs. Upon picking my car up I went to open my sunroof as I always do when I get into my car, sunroof won't open, windows won't roll down. I alert the service department of this issue they asked me to bring the car back at a later day.
Update from Mar 26, 2017: I also noticed when I was driving the car home that is was shaking and pulling to the left, will have this issue addressed when I take it back yet again.

A rodent crawled up into the engine compartment and chewed up the wires to coil connector. It made all of the dashboard warning lights to come on and the engine was shaking due to the mis-firing coil. It is Honda fault because they covered/made the wires with SOY, which attracts rodents. My 2016 Civic is less than 2 years old with 9,500 miles, Honda claims it is not covered under the warranty. Honda then, wanted to sell me a $500 engine wiring harness, this is ridiculous, because it doesn't resolve the problem, the rodents will be attracted to the new wire harness too. They also wanted to sell me Spicy Rodent Tape for $48, this is a scam, Honda needs to fix this problem, they will be losing loyal customers.
