Crosstour EX-L 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,500 miles

I came outside to start car and steering wheel was hard to turn. Car only has 63500 miles on it. Took it to dealer who informs me that its the electronic power steering module and that its $1655 to fix. We bought car used in Dec. 2014 with 27k on it. We barely drive it. That is ridiculous that it would go up so fast and is that expensive to fix. This is the first Honda we ever bought and will be our last. Going back to Toyota.

Crosstour 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

Almost impossible to steer without power due to wide tires and width of car. There was no warning the power steering was failing; drove to an appt, parked, and after appt the power was gone. I haven't fixed it yet due to almost $3,000 repair cost. Need to bring to dealer since neither of the Honda-certified mechanics who've worked on Hondas for decades want to attempt to fix it, in case there's something that can be fixed without replacing the entire assembly. The diagnostic info the mechanics had indicated entire steering assembly needed replaced. There had been no indications of any problem prior to total failure. My husband can barely maneuver the car when turning at lower speeds, and I definitely cannot drive it without the power steering.

Crosstour ES V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

I was traveling out of state with my son for a few days on vacation. We live in NY and we had made it to Rehoboth Beach Delaware. I was in the middle of an intersection trying to make a left turn when I suddenly felt a slight vibration and immediately the EPS light came on and I was completely unable to steer the car!!! Thankfully it was early in the morning and not a lot of traffic. I was able with all my might to steer to the side of the road. I promptly called Honda and was told the nearest dealer was an hour away in the opposite direction. I called the dealer in Dover and they told me even if I was able to get the car towed to them that day (a Saturday) they would not be able to even look at the car until possibly Monday or Tuesday. I then called Acura and they gave me the same information. I was stranded. I called the closest mechanic in Rehoboth and they were able to tow us to their shop where we waited for about two hours for the diagnosis. I was grateful for their help because Honda was unable to do anything for me. The diagnosis was the shock and motor were completely burnt out and I needed to replace the rack and pinion - the parts would not be available until the following Friday! I had to make a decision and really had no options. I called my Honda service group in NY that I go to for all my service and they said there was really nothing they could do and confirmed the price I was given was accurate. I rented a car and was at the mercy of the mechanics. We were told on Friday that the car was being worked on as the part came in and that we would be called by end of day. When the mechanic called, he said everything was replaced and that after a test drive and two turns of the car the error repeated itself and all the lights came back on!! This was day 7. On day 8 I was told that the module was bad and would have to be replaced. On day 10, because day 9 was Easter Sunday, I was told the module part would not be in until day 11...I have now had to extend my rental vehicle by multiple days and this cost alone is close to $1000!! I was called again and told the module would be $1200, on top of the $3200 for the first part and that does not include labor and tow. I am waiting to see if my issue is ever fixed, but will most likely trade this car in even though I still owe money on it as I have ZERO faith in Honda. This was very frightening and when I read that the issue for 2013 Accords had been investigated for this exact issue for a recall and then closed because there weren't enough complaints, I truly wanted to cry. There are still plenty of these vehicles out there and I would never recommend Honda ever again. I appreciate the people who did try to help me but this could have been catastrophic and I still don't know if I will be safe as long as I have to drive this car. I will be getting rid of it ASAP.
