The clear coat is peeling on a section of the driver's side front fender on top close to the hood boundary. This will significantly lower the value of the car should I wish to sell it or trade it in. As I am close to retirement and anticipating reducing our need for a car down to one vehicle, my wife's 2008 Honda CRV, this is more of an issue than normal.

clearcoat is peeling

My Redondo Red 2006 CRV is down right embarrassing. I've taken very good care of my vehicle so when it started oxidizing a couple of years ago I took it to a couple of reputable auto painters for an estimate on getting the hood repainted. They all said it was a Honda clear coat problem and I should contact them. I contacted the dealer I bought it from who took photos and sent them to some higher up.

I received a phone message (no letter) stating it was normal wear and tear and basically that's what I get for living in Arizona. Now all top surfaces look horrible and I'm stuck getting the whole vehicle painted. I had a dark green Toyota Tacoma for 11 years and with a good waxing it looked like new until the day I sold it. And it was in the same Arizona sun. Unless I'm OK with driving a trashy looking vehicle I'm stuck with a hefty paint job bill.

Even though I love how my CRV has stood up mechanically I won't buy another Honda because of the way I was treated.

Not only is the paint doing this on the tailgate, the hood and roof are looking very mottled (first stage) and will look just like the tailgate within the year. I am really upset that the paint is not holding up. I don't enjoy driving a trashy looking vehicle. That's exactly what it is starting to look like.
