Bought a brand new 2015 Honda Fit EX two days ago. Didn't notice the back braking driver's seat until I got it home after short drive around town. My lower back was so painful I couldn't believe it. I have never had back pain before or had trouble with new car seats being that uncomfortable to where it was crippling pain.

The driver's seat is so hard & contorted with a lumbar curve & short bottom seat. Terrible. I tried every maneuver going up & down, forward & back, telescoping back & forth with the wheel. I took the foam out of my garden chair pad & followed a You Tube video by a physical therapist for proper placement. Forget it.

Finally took it to an auto upholsterer to replace the rock hard foam & shave down the lumbar area that was jutting out. Picking it up tonight - hope it works! Dealer didn't want to know & denied any other complaints about the uncomfortable seats.

Also, beware....back seat belt clasps are reversed.

I am now taking Advil and Aleve for my back on a regular basis. Thought it was my imagination, but the seats are at a lousy angle and they shorted the leg portion so much that my very short legs hang over the edge of the seat. The headrests were so miserable the first day out that I reversed them to face backward, as they push your head forward and make your neck hurt. Even Aleve wouldn't fix that.

The head rest of my new 2015 Honda Fit pushes my head forward every time I want to rest my back on the seat. I need to seat upright, with my back separated from the upper part of the seat so I can keep my head in its normal relation with respect to my torso. I had a 2004 Honda Civic before this Fit, and before a 1990 Honda Civic and did not have any problem with the seats of any of these two cars. I think Honda should provide a way to modify the forward-backward inclination of the headrest. As it is now, I find it very uncomfortable and I do not know how I will be able to drive during long periods. I will need to modify the seat somehow, but I do not yet know how.

The front seats in the 2015 Honda Fit are really uncomfortable. Both my wife and I have gotten sore lower backs and neck pains from them. I also note circulation to my rear and legs is cut off if I'm driving for more than 40-45 minutes straight.

The neck problem is from the too-far-forward head restraints that poke the backs of our heads. Luckily (or perhaps by design?), Honda notched both posts on the front head restraints. Flipping them backwards from the original intent has mostly fixed this for both of us, though I find the lower edge of the head restraint now sometimes pokes the middle of the back of my neck, but this is much better than the head restraint forcing me to slouch my neck forwards into an uncomfortable position.

The lower back problem is probably related to the un-ergonomic head restraint design as the upper back of the seat pushes the upper back forwards, preventing the lower section from supporting our lower backs. This wasn't noticeable to me during the 15-20 minute test drives I took, but it's painfully obvious after 30-45 minutes of sitting in these seats. The back seats are much more comfortable and properly support the back, neck and head as the shape doesn't force a slouched position. In fact, during a long ride back from dropping off our daughter (and my 1999 Protege, which has really comfortable seats; I could drive 8-9 hours with only a single stop for fuel and still feel comfortable), my wife rode in the back with the front seat in the "lounge" configuration just so her back would feel better.

We each got a thin chair pad from IKEA to use on the lower back of the front seats. This partially solves the problem as we don't get as bad back pains, but they shift around, are a bit too thick (they are about 3/4 inch uncompressed) and don't feather out as a proper cushion should (they are only $5 chair pads after all).

I've suffered worse seats in rentals and test drives of other cars (I rejected many cars due to bad seats, poor outward visibility), but out of a scale of 5 (5 being most comfortable), I'd rate these guys a 2.
