Insight 4-cyl

  • 31,000 miles
The contact owned a 2019 Honda Insight. The contact stated that the infotainment panel overheated without warning while driving various speeds. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, but the failure continued. While the vehicle was off, the infotainment panel intermittently flickered on an off. The contact also noticed a buzzing noise coming from the rear driver's side fuel tank when the vehicle was off. The vehicle was taken to criswell Honda (19525 amaranth dr, germantown, md 20874, 240-864-0880) where the infotainment panel was replaced three times; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000. Consumer stated here is the dropbox link with all of the separate files, including the videos of the electrical malfunctioning. I will send a copy of the final repair order only once I have access to wifi again.

Apple carplay will occasionally crash during vehicle use, causing the center infotainment console to completely reset. In this period, backup camera and side view camera are inaccessible for 30-60 seconds. This often happens mid operation of vehicle.

We have a new 2019 Honda Insight with 176 total miles on it. This morning, on leaving costco in salem Oregon, there was an electrical problem which prevented use of turn signals, lights and other systems. This persisted for the four mile drive home. After parking the car, unloading groceries (using manual trunk unlock) then returning later, all systems were working again. We have contacted the dealer and hopefully they will be able to identify the problem. The car is unsafe to drive if there is another failure.
