Engine misfire on cylinder 3 and excessive oil consumption. So far changing the coils and spark plugs has not fixed the issue.

Odyssey Elite 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,500 miles

engine is burning oil. The light came on and took to dealership and they acknowledge that engine is buring oil and told me to come back after 500 miles. Went today and they said yes looks like engine oil is burining and told me to wait till next light comes on as they need a diagnostic code. Meanwhile I was told to top off oil if I see stick level is low after 300 miles or so. Does not make sense as why shoud I top oil inbetween regular maintenance. I will complain to American Honda and this will be my last honda

Our 2014 Odyssey which we bought new in Dec. 2013 has been needing service every 3000-3500 miles due to low oil since we bought it. This is our 4th service in 1.5 years of owning the car and it only has 14000 miles on it. Dealership said it's due to in town driving and it is normal. We have owned several Siennas before, had the same pattern of driving and have never seen the same problem. What's going on? Is it really a normal oil consumption for a new car?
