So I was told that there was a recall by a mechanic but at this time I don't have that info from Honda verifying it. I am totally bs that this car's entire frame is gone and deemed unsafe for me to be driving it and there is zero recourse. Its reprehensible that Honda doesn't buy out those of us affected with this issue when it is so blatently an issue that is severe and should NOT have happened and they have their names on it.

I really hope that it's true what I was told and will be looking into this further first thing Monday. I hope to have a positive result but not feeling it after reading the other reviews here. I did just get a new car for my Birthday thank God because I definitely need a safe car to drive with my kids in it as well. Good luck to those of you with this rotted out rust bucket we got stuck with.

I brought my 2000 Honda Passport in for a brake service to an independent garage. I got a call back that afternoon from the garage suggesting the vehicle should be scrapped due to frame rot. The vehicle and drive train are in very good condition and I was in shock to hear this. I called the NHSTA, they referred my to Honda of America. Honda of America is already trying to dodge the bullet by say things like "well you live in and part of the country that uses sand and salt" and "Has the vehicle been serviced by a Honda Dealer". I cant afford the Honda Service Department rates. Honda would not accept the evaluation of the independent garage, they want a Honda dealer to evaluate the problem (I feel this is like the fox watching the hen house). Maybe I should have someone from NHSTA or the DOT there when it happens. It is an absolute shame to have a vehicle in such good shape in every other aspect and have a problem with the frame that should out last the entire vehicle not to mention what a safety hazard this is. I have often wondered why you never see Passports and Rodeos for resale, this may be why.

This is a problem that Honda needs to address. For the frame to rot way before the rest of the vehicle suggest that this is a manufacturing defect/problem, and a big one. Honda should fix them, or buy them back like Toyota did. (Toyota, you may win me over). I have owned six Honda vehicles and have been happy with them all. I am getting a bad feeling about everyone's response so far but if Honda is the class act I think they are, maybe they will make good on issue.
