Passport 6-cyl

  • 126,875 miles
While driving at highway speeds the engine died, lost power steering and power brakes (lost vacuum to booster.) the #1 intake lifter button popped out and the cam lobe hammered the lifter and valve into the #1 cylinder causing catastrophic engine failure. Engine oil was in mid range and had ~2000K on engine oil change. No fluid mixing occurred prior to or after the incident. When valve was pushed into the cylinder it was bent, the locking up of the cam on the passenger side of the engine caused the water pump to be broken bending the idler pulley down dumping antifreeze out onto the road.
