Ridgeline RTS 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 125,000 miles

Beginning around 120,000 miles started excessive oil use. At 129,000 miles, now uses 1 quart per 2000 miles. There are no oil leaks on the engine.

Driving conditions over the life of the vehicle have been mild. Over half the miles are long haul, highway miles. Oil was changed every 5000 miles cuz I believe Honda's 7500 mile oil change recommendation is NOT very bright, & I intended to drive this vehicle past 300,000 miles.

Internet indicates Honda mis-designed the rings.

I've driven 7 vehicles way more than 1,000,000 miles, and have never had an engine use more than a quart per 5000 miles, including leaks.

Ridgeline RTL 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,000 miles

NOVEMBER OF 2014 COMING HOME FROM WORK MY OIL LIGHT STARTED BLINKING. I PULLED INTO GAS STATION where we put 3 Quarts of oil in my vehicle. A couple months later i had the same problem. This is when i heard Honda had used inferior oil rings to improve gas mileage. I started checking my oil more frequently i was burning more than i quart per 1000 miles. This is when my truck started running crappy. After much time and expense, I changed all 4 O2 sensors and 2 catalytic converters. This was all due to burning oil which was caused by inferior rings. I think Honda should make this problem right by giving me a ring job free of cost. Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Ridgeline SU V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 186,000 miles

My Ridgeline started using excessive oil around 160,000 miles. About a quart every 500 - 750 miles. It started happening out of nowhere. It has been a pain, but I read this was a problem for others. Yesterday, my truck sputter and stopped running while at a red light. The engine sounds like it is having problems. I have towed it to my local Honda dealer awaiting the damages. There is plenty of oil in the engine.

Ridgeline 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 192,000 miles

was running very rough, engine lights on, had spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, intake plenum gaskets replaced, oil changed, then it was burning huge amounts of oil, down over 2 quarts in a week with minimal driving, then down over a quart in one day after about 20 miles driven; mechanic says it needs complete engine overhaul, new rings, or replacement engine; thousands of dollars
