Ridgeline RTL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,500 miles

The Blue Tooth Hands Free Link in the Ridgeline is really poorly designed from a pairing and data management standpoint. Ford's SYN system works seamlessly with any phone. It downloads all contacts and the system does not require you to load contacts into the memory using your voice for future recognition. I believe only 50 contacts can be entered.

That's a small issue but still a pita.

What is worse is that is callers cannot hear you. I cannot use it hands free unless the car is sitting still. Any call at highway speeds is completely out of the question due to ambient noise feedback through the microphone.

Yes, it is a loud truck. Tire noise is bad and wind noise is even worse.

I like this vehicle but am completely turned off by the HFL system. It is pretty awful. I came from several Ford vehicles that had SYNC and never had any issues. This one was very poorly thought out imho.

I don't think it will cause me to sell or trade it but I will not recommend the HFL/NAV system to anyone contemplating a purchase. That was money that could have been spent on a good Blue Tooth link with a lot of change left over.
