My engine light is on and I took it to the dealership and I need a new cylinder head. I have a code P0305 (engine misfire). I have lodged a complaint with GM Canada and was told my warranty has expired and have been turned down twice. It is a known problem but because I have low mileage it did not happen until my warranty had expired. I am a first time owner and the vehicle has been very well maintained. I am furious with the dealer as they know this is a common problem and that it will eventually happen. I am being punished because I did not rack up the miles and it happened too late, according to their warranty problem.

I believe regardless of the mileage, warranty or not, the manufacturer is aware of the pitiful cylinder heads they installed in the 2006 model. Responsibility should be placed on the manufacturer. I read too many reviews of the 2006 Hummer H3 owners having to spend $2,000-3,000 hard earned dollars for repairs that could have been prevented if the manufacturer would take full responsibility and recall the bad heads

Not even a week after purchasing my 2006 hummer h3 from local Chevrolet dealer a cylinder head went out and luckily because it happened in a 30 day period they coverd the almost $2500 bill. I have now owned it 17 months and its the worst car ive ever owned i wouldnt recomment to anyone! Tons of problems.

I just have to say GM really needs to listen to its buyers. We are not happy, and most likely will buy elsewhere. Just this past week, for the second time, the head cylinder needs replacing. The first time it was under warranty, the second time, well, I simply can't afford the $2900+ to have it fixed. It's a shame that this a known issue and you can find tons of bulletin boards where people are complaining, yet, if you contact GM, you basically get the cold shoulder and "we will be more than happy to help locate you a dealer", but, "we are not paying". Its sad because I really do love my H3, and with under 70k miles and excellent care, this should not happen. For now, it will sit in my driveway until I come up with a solution. Maybe another engine? Maybe GM will eventually help? Let's see.
