I purchased the Accent to start my new job in Charleston SC. At about 12:30 am Friday Jan 30 I left my house. Around 3 am I started to cross the Tappen Zee bridge in NY. At that time I lost all power, all dash lights came on ( have pictures) and my top speed was around 10mph (only a guess since that wasn't working either.
After driving around to look for a safe place to pull over, at that time I called 24 hour roadside assistance. They cancelled my service call twice, and left me stranded for around 3 hours. Prior to that I called my wife and she drove out. After 3 hours of waiting. the car's lights went off and seemed "normal". Instead of waiting for roadside drove the car to Rockland Hyundai. At about 10:30 I was told the car was fixed. The Service tech said the dealer prep button wasn't pushed. Sounded like bs to me.
In the subsequent time I called several Hyundai dealers. I was told by them the dealer prep button was a switch, and it controlled accessories that it wouldn't cause the car to go into "safe " mode. When I talked to the northeast manager of Hyundai he offered me one lease payment as compensation and offered no help. I would not recommend buying any Hyundai.
