This turns out to be an intermittent condition. On occasion when you go to start the car, nothing happens when you turn the key. There is no sound at all and no cranking. With the key in the on position, you will notice that the "P" for park is not showing on the dash display. This is the key. The problem, in my case, turned out to be the shift lever assembly. Sometimes moving the shifter around in park can reproduce the problem. Replacing the shift lever assembly solved the problem.

Car thinks the keys are still in the ignition, had the keys replaced that didn't work. Just have to jiggle the key back in then out of ignition.
