7/28/12 1st oil change Hardin Hyundai, Anaheim, CA, service mgr., Mr.Ewald stated that " the car hadn't broken in yet" 2nd oil change @7K miles, Hardin recommended a bottle of their fuel system cleaner which we purchased.

In early Fall on 2013 I called Mr. Ewald @ Hardin & complained that the exhaust soot problem was getting worse: he told me that he & Hyundai were aware of the problem & were working on a fix, but no solution had been found so far. I requested that he intercede for us with Hyundai & inform us when the fix is found.

On 11/22/13 Harden found the entire fuel system full of black soot ( 14K miles), the tech did show me the intake full of soot, they performed a "BG Fuel Induction Kit" @ $138.00 which did improve the performance & soot problem for a few thousand miles.

In 3 & 4/14 I did contact Hyundai Customer Care talked with a Marissa, then Perry, then Jessica who set me up with an appointment on 5/23/14 @ Hardin to have a regional Hyundai tech evaluate & resolve the problem. When I arrived @ the dealer the new service manager Mike had no idea what I was referring to. I called HCS & Jessica called Mike to verify the case # & appointment. No Factory specialist tech was available ! They did clean the entire rear of the car: the soot was starting to discolor the paint & recommended that we may have not been driving the car properly &/ or using the proper gas. We promised to use only premium 91 octane for 3-4 tanks & take a road trip (20 K miles).

8/14 23K miles. Have used 6+ tanks of premium, taken the car on 2 road trips, driven more aggressively & the soot is worse that ever !! We did get a letter from Hyundai Motor America stating" the exhaust condition is not the result of a defect in materials or workmanship".
