Santa Fe

I am frustrated that I have to continually replace my rear passenger side light bulb due to condensation during the non wet months and half full water stored in my tail light during wet months of the year. I hear from many Hyundai owners of the same problem.. A recall would be nice!

Santa Fe SE 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,000 miles

So around Easter I washed the Sante Fe and noticed that the right rear taillight was full of water. Not just a little water, but enough to have goldfish swimming around in it. One of the bulbs inside shattered presumably because of the water.

We were getting ready to travel for the Easter weekend and with rain in the forecast I not want to let this go. I removed the taillight from the car, and then put a thin bead of clear silicone around the seam to at least stop the water from getting in.

When the car when in for service, we mentioned the taillight issue. The car was still under warranty. They would not fix the taillight because I had "tampered" with it. I suppose duck tape would have been an acceptable fix though. Thanks Hyundai. Way to take care of your customers.
