Ever since I had a new engine put in my car, my car hasn't been the same. It acts like it doesn't want to go when pressing the gas pedal right after (was told it was the eco mode), then my dash started to crack, now is extremely cracked which has an air bag, gas gage has a mind of its own, burning a severe amount of oil a week so there is no point in 'changing the oil', oil light never once comes on letting me know its low, no oil on my driveway or under the hood, interior dome light sometimes doesn't shut off, the brake lights short out on a monthly basis and get pulled over by the cops all the time. Now with only 50,000 miles on the 'new engine', I take it back to the dealership because its smoking when I crank it, doesn't accelerate sometimes going down the road when I press the gas, then starts smoking, headlights flicker, engine light stays on and low tire light stays on (even after getting new tires & alignment). Took it in yesterday, Hyundai is stating my oxygen sensors, catalytic converter & gaskets and intake manifold need to be replaced at $3,177. The car isn't even worth that much. This is not the reason why my car is using excessive amounts of oil, smoking when I crank it and acts like the engine is about to blow up. Then they come back to tell me it needs the above, plus an engine replacement but out of 'goodwill' they will only charge me 20% ($2,000) with no loaner car. Its going on 3 weeks now. The corporate office is useless and very rude. I have a voicemail stating 'this is the highest customer service department and once the decision has be made, those decisions are fianl and its up to you to decline or accept our offer.' It's the engine, again! which then lead to other issues! I will never buy another Hyundai again!! this car has caused nothing but money and time, complete waste of junk!

My 2011 Hyundai Sonata while driving on road - perhaps over 50 mph, it turns on the ESC mode in the car, and the engine slows down automatically. Even if you are on the highway, whic can be very scary. It also happens when driving it frequently now. I have to pull off the road, and turn off car, and then turn it on. Sometimes this works and sometimes it does not.

The airbag light will not go out. It came on while I was driving on a city street. My daughter was in the front passenger seat. We both had our seatbelts on. I'm concerned for our safety. Not sure what the airbag light is trying to warn.

I never received information regarding the recalls on my Hyundai Sonata 2011 vehicle. I was driving my Hyundai Sonata 2011 on 4/11/19, going about 60 miles an hour and the cut shut off. Was in heavy congested traffic and I was almost rear ended with no control of the Hyundai Sonata 2011vehicle. My Hyundai Sonata 2011 was moved to the side of the road where a tow truck was called. Subsequently, Hyundai Sonata 2011was taken to the huntington dealership. Dealer informed me there was 7 recalls of which I not aware of in regards Hyundai Sonata 2011 this could have been a life threaten situation and Hyundai should notified me of all recalls. This is unacceptable and life threating to family friends and community.

2011 Hyundai Sonata gls automatic transmission. Problem with ignition key. The key will not go past acc to the lock position to allow the key to be removed. Followed directions in manual to push the key in at acc position, but the lock mechanism does not move. Happens every other day. Have restart the car and move it and try the process again to get key to move into its proper position (lock) to remove key. Impossible security situation as cannot leave key in vehicle. Also stability control light comes on every morning., and car stalls every time I make a turn while driving. This is dangerous. Took my vehicle in to the dealership who claimed that all recall and campaign situations had been resolved with my vehicle.

New engine and starter under recall by Hyundai dealership in montgomery, al. I pick my car up no one in service is in my radio bluetooth ac won't work and they all worked prior! car kept cutting off felt like wheels was gonna fall off drove horrible! plug phone in usb start smelling burnt smell, unplug it smoke is coming out, it's extremely hot and cords burnt. Get home look at paperwork says 'tire separated needs immediate attention' no one told me let me drive on it. I had no clue my tires are fairly new. Tire exploded leaving dent in my car. I ask about tire he said 'oh I forgot to tell you' (as no big deal) in fact was! ask which tire he didn't remember! call Consumer Affairs advised to take back. Dealt with service manager rude and denied any fault before ever looking at car insisting they weren't to blame. How would he know if he hasn't ever even looked at it" ask why lights on dash and why'd it not run properly? blamed on my tire. Sold me tire $88 but he'd give me discount for my trouble, he didn't I paid $114. Calls cars ready. I ask if everythings fixed and what was wrong with it" he said no and didn't know what was wrong with it but it wasn't anything they done! honestly don't think he checked he denied blame before looking at it and said it'd be ready in couple hours time to put tire on. Said to take to stero shop and they can pull radio out and might find reset switch behind it to reset radio, he should've. Ask about usb he said 'plugged one in it worked ask if he left in least 10 minutes as I did he said 'don't got one to' can't use one used to test it ask if electrical wiring burnt when engine seized as starter did, says no lights be on in dash, they are, blamed it on tires. 3 mechanics said electrical wasn't hooked back up properly and/or electrical wiring burnt when engine seized. Car wont start problems cycloids not firing and fuel injector too!

I bought a used 2011 Hyundai Sonata in March for my birthday, and about 3 months ago, the steering wheel started shaking violently any time I got to 60mph or higher. Upon further investigation, I found out I needed a new steering coupler. Before it got fixed, my dome lights, and all of the buttons on the right side of the steering wheel (trip, cruise control) stopped working. After being fixed, none of the above mentioned things work, but also now, my power locks, dash clock and horn stopped working. I almost got hit by another driver a few days ago, and didnt even have a horn to honk!

I have had issue after issue with my 2011 Sonata. In just a year and a half I have had 5 things fixed or replaced 2 of them major. I've had the whole break assembly fixed for my break lights not working. Most recently I had to have the engine replaced due to it seizing up with just barely over 100K miles. Then 3 months after that I'm having issues with the cruise randomly turning off, the break lights not working. Also the gear shifter will not go into gear at times. One of the major issues ive had is the engine randomly stalling or the accelerator nor working at all. The issue ive had with the cruise control will randomly happen whether I'm moving or in park and during this is also effects the stability control as well and it will turn its self off. With the car stalling, it randomly happens whether I'm at a traffic light trying to accelerate or while I'm driving.

Occasionally when after putting the car in park and hitting the pushbutton start to turn the car off the car turns off but stays in acc mode. So the radio stays on and illuminated and they push button start turns red also on the dash the immobilizer indicator pops up and says shift into park when technically the car is already in park. When going to get out of the car with the key makes the alarm noise. The key for will not even work. But while all of this is still happening I'm able to start the car with no problem. This is a real inconvenience for me sometimes.

Recently, I started to document soon as I can remember the time and date of the incident because it caused such as panic while I am driving on the highway. After April 27, 2018, ESC malfunction indicator and check engine lights have come on and off. Since then it's more often within the last 6 months. Few times on the highway, car started to slow down (losing power) and need immediately pull over to avoid any accident. After sat and waited few minutes restarted the engine both lights disappeared. September 05 2018, ESC malfunction indicator light came on in the morning, went home and left the vehicle sitting over night. ESC malfunction lights are disappeared. September 06 2018, ESC malfunction indicator light came on and off in the afternoon. September 07 2018, around noon parked at home driveway after grocery shopping, suddenly engine stalled, having difficult to start the engine again and ESC malfunction indicator light stayed on.

Last week I was driving and the ESC indicator light randomly came on on my dashboard. Later, after I tried to shut it off by pressing the ESC button which did not work, I tried to adjust the volume on my radio using the steering wheel controls. Instead of adjusting the volume down it went to the bluetooth for my cell phone. Next day no further issues. No warning/indicator lights came on, car functioned normally. Two days later ESC light came back on. Stopped at the store and when I came back out I noticed my brake lights were on. Drove home, parked in the driveway and again, brake lights remained on even after car was off, lights were turned to the off position and there was no possible way for them to remain on. Had to disconnect my battery for the night. Next day noticed recall for 2011 Sonatas for the same issue. Called Hyundai and they stated my VIN is not part of the recall, so they can't do anything for me. This is after Hyundai refused to acknowledge their engine defects in the same vehicle. I was one of the first affected by the engine blowing out and was refused warranty service. I had to sue Hyundai and it was not until they openly acknowledged engine failures that they finally honored my warranty and replaced my engine. I was without my vehicle for over a year during that process. My point is that Hyundai has a history, and documented track record, of ignoring customer concerns and complaints. They regularly neglect the consumer and leave us to make due with a defective car. They refuse, yet again, to honor a known safety issue with their vehicle.
