Having purchased the aforementioned VIN last month, the break lights stay on even tho the car is off, thus draining the battery. With a heightened fear of being rear-ended, or worse, for the now we disconnect the battery cable. Also, the car wants to stall when stepping on the gas pedal, the acceleration is delayed, this at any speed. Fearful of the engine catching afire, we appreciate post haste.

I have purchased my car in 2014. Since I have had this vehicle, I noticed that my brake lights were going out more than the norm (for other vehicles). I have received countless of tickets of the electrical issue that the 2012-2014 Hyundai Sonata owners have yet to get resolved/addressed by Hyundai. I have had several of my police friends and other current/former Hyundai Sonata owners to tell me that they have pulled many people over with the same year/make/model for brake lights. This electrical issue is hazardous for not only me and my child, but any other individuals who share the road with me. The most recent incident was the last and final straw for me. I was driving when another individual informed me that my brake light was out yet again. I went to the autozone to attempt to change my light bulb just to discover that the electrical mechanism that holds the bulb in place is broken. It appeared that the light bulb went through a mild burst of flames. To have this happen, especially as a mother, on the same side as my child sits is unacceptable! I'm sure that if you conduct your own research with police about vehicles being pulled over, you will surely see that the number one reason was because of a broken brake light. I hope to hear from someone soon.

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that after being pulled over by the police, the contact was informed that the passenger's side rear brake light was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the brake lamp bulb was replaced however, brake lamp was still inoperable. The contact stated that the brake lamp warning light remained displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 15V759000 (service brakes, hydraulic). Neither the dealer nor manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

In July 2019 I noticed that the brake lights came on in the middle of the night, although there is nobody in the car at that time. For the next few days the brake light were tuning on even when I was not pressing the brake pedal. In the same time the electronic stability control started to take over and it refused to accelerate when I pressed the gas pedal. The only way I was able to make it work was to depress the gas pedal and then press it again. I took the car to the mechanic because it was behaving very strange. The mechanic told me that the problem is a rubber stopper that kept the break pedal in place. When it is worn, it behaves as if somebody tried to hit the break. After the problem was resolved I discovered that there is recall 136 the accurately describes my problem for my car model. I contacted Hyundai about a possible recall but I got no response.

We own a 2012 Hyundai Sonata and the brake-tail lights keep going out. One tail light we had to replace the whole assembly because the hole that the bulb goes in melted. It does not matter what you do they always burn out. When I'm on the highway and I'm behind a Hyundai Sonata or elantra around the 2012 model they always have a tail light that does not work. I know a few other people who have had this issue. I emailed Hyundai about it and they said their basically not doing anything about it. This is a safety issue that can cause someone to run into the back of you.

Since the purchase of my vehicle in Dec 2014 I have replaced 12 or more lights bulbs. Front headlight and back brake lights. Bentley hyuandai dealership who sold the vehicle told the back brake lights entire casing had to be replaced because it melted. I just changed the front headlight bulbs a month ago and the now the drivers side headlight is out again. This is a safety hazard because the headlights go out while driving. Therefore I could not see anything and neither can the other drivers see my vehicle. This was a terrifying incident. This safety hazard is happening more frequently. I just had my vehicle serviced at bentley Hyundai at the end of last month and now my headlights are out again.

For the last 6 months we have been buying light bulbs for the car. They are either blowing are there is something that's making them go out. If we change one either that same one or another one goes out. And it's with the front lights back lights and I currently have an interior light out along with a front head light. I can't pin point if they go out while driving or not all I know we have gotten pulled over several times about a light we didn't know was out.

I was driving down the highway going about 60 mph and all the sudden it's like the car shuts off, slowing to about 45. As I push on gas it does nothing then about 3 seconds later jerks back up and then repeats. It does this now everytime I am traveling. Besides giving me whiplash, it is dangerous because it could definitely cause a crash. My brake lights have been replaced 5 times in two years. Also there is always a loud clicking noise when driving. It sounds awful.

I've seen so many of the same without 1 brake light smh. Guess same problem!

Car hesitates under acceleration while driving. Does it on road and freeway. Break lights are always going out have to replace every other week possibly have problems with wire harness. Shocks and struts started making noise right before the 60,000 mile mark wears off tire because of it. Car started having similar problems early on when I bought the car at around 12,000 miles for the acceleration. Break light problems around 60,000 miles suspension around the same time. Have had the engine replace twice on this car. And currently in the shop again.

For the third time now I was pulled over on the freeway for having a tail light out on my 2012 Hyundai Sonata. No matter how many times I replace the bulbs they just keep blowing. I haven't received a ticket yet from any of these occurrences, thank god, but I'm sure eventually... I am starting to fear I am going to be somewhere at night and someone is going to hit me. This cannot be normal for my year Hyundai.

The complete brake light panels-"taillights" on both sides of the back of the car (2012 Sonata) - is completely out. (back driver and passenger taillight panels) all the wiring that carrys electricial to the back taillights are melted / completely worped / fused together and blown out. All the burnt wiring has disfigured and melted the inside of the tail light panels (in the trunk) so the bulbs or wires can not be replaced and functionable. Fyi: It carrys the smell of the burnt wiring and plastic. My 2012 Sonata has "no electricial wires" that are functionable to connect the tail lights on either side in the back of the car. The dealership has tried to fix the bulbs and connection 2 times but nothing works- it continues to blow out & melt...this problem needs to be recalled the "tail lights, all wiring to the taillights, fuses and anything that is connected with the electrical for the tail lights." This will catch fire in the trunk or worse!
