Problem started with air conditioner slow to cool car and became worse over time. I wasn't able to diagnose it for awhile because it happened during the winter.

Being a Master Tech myself for 35 yrs in all phases of repair & retired I do have a clue! When A/C failed I did the norm and verified A/C Clutch engagement and pressures on high side and low side both good. Determined internal failure on compressor. Took vehicle to a friends shop (I'm Retired) and he concluded my problem. We started searching for replacements and unable to locate the accumulator valve due to unavailability. Vehicle too new yet! And I get the blow back as hey its only got 39K... Anyway in the meantime I get this Service Bulletin pertaining to a metal that might have ingested into motor during assembly which in turn could cause catastrophic engine failure and a seat belt securement not safe.

So what the hell, on to the dealer in Salem Oregon. As I was greeted I explained my plight. Service agent appeared to have knowledge regarding a/C but did not offer up any resolve and we"ll look at it. Then I further asked how they plan to determine if my motor is effected my the metal recall. I was informed they have a special microphone they stick down into the engine to listen to it. Well just about dropped my load and had to laugh at that one. So my 50 cent question; what happens if you do not hear metal and this sh*t ball disintegrates down the road 20k miles any warranty. I was assured they would take care of me on it. Guess I'll take that to the bank??? Oh yea I own a 2015 Genisi Coupe I was required to take in and verify drive wont fall off. I think I see a Mustang calling me...I'm Pissed.....

Sonata LX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission

In Feb 2016 heater stopped working. I had a new heater box replaced with only 30,500 miles. A short time after the AC didn't work and they replaced gaskets and the 0 rings. a short time after the AC stopped working again. I brought it back to the Dealership in Cortland Manor NY and the service advisor Brian said it had a hole in the Condenser and wasn't covered under the warranty and said I would have to pay $825.00 to have it repaired. The very next day I went back to the dealership and told Brian I wanted a print out of all repairs done on my car from the time they put in a new heater box. When he was printing out the repairs I asked how can a condenser get a hole in it and he SAID A DRAGON FLY PUT A HOLE IN IT AND I REPLIED YOU DIDN'T MENTIONED THE DAY BEFORE ABOUT THIS. A DRAGON FLY....WHAT A JERK!!!.....I CALLED HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SPOKE A GUY NAMED BRIAN AND OLD HIM ABOUT THE DRAGON FLY AND HE CALLED BRIAN THE ADVISOR AT THE DEALERSHIP AND AGAIN TOLD HIM IT WAS A DRAGONFLY. BRIAN....CUSTOMER SERVICE REP PHONE NUMBER IS 609-395-7342. BRIAN SENT A REP TO THE DEALERSHIP TO MEET ME AND SAID HOLE WAS CAUSED BY A ROCK NOT A DRAGON FLY AND NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THIS HEATER AND AC WAS DEFECTIVE FROM THE GET GO. WHEN THEY REPLACED THE GASKETS AND O RINGS THESE PARTS CAUSED THE HOLIN THE CONDENSER I'M SURE OF THIS. I TOLD THE GENERAL MGR. AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT I HAVE DRIVING A CAR FOR 47 YEARS AND THE YEARS OWNING AND LEASING THAT I NEVER HAD TO REPLCE A CONDENSOR OR A HEATER BOX AND THE GENERAL MGR REPLIED THAT HE REPLACED HUNDREDS OF CONDENSORS WITH HOLES AND I REPLIED THEN WHY DIDN'T HYUNDAI COME OUT WITH A GUARD IN FRONT OF THE CONDENSOR...THIS WAS A LIE PERIOD!.....I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT WHEN I MET THE REP AT HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE ATTHE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO LEAVE THAT AN EMPLOYER HIT MY CAR. I HAD TO WAIT OVER A WEEK FOR A CAR LOANER. I WENT LAST WED TO PICK UP THE CAR AND REFUSED TO TAKE BACK MY CAR BECAUSE THE WORKMANSHIP ON THE DENT WAS A DISGRACE AND ALSO HAD RIPPLES AND STILL DENTS SHOWING AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THE LOOKED FINE....WHAT A LIAR!!! THE NEXT DAY THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WILL RE-DO THE DENTS. TODAY IS MONDAY JUNE 27TH AND HAVEN'T HEARD FROM THEM. THIS DEALERSHIP IS A DEALERSHIP FROM HELL!!!! THE OTHER DAY BRIAN FROM HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID IT WOULD GIVE ME $400.00 TOWARDS THE $825.00 TO FIX IT. I TOLD HIM NO AND I THINK THEY'RE ADMITTING THIER GUILT. I WOULD NEVER BUY A HYUNDAI AGAIN AND WILL TELL EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP.
