the tires on the rear of this should not be worn out to the point they have no tread left at all at 18000 mile. this is just a 2 wheel drive the front tires are in real good condition

Purchased the car in April 2004 - drove to and from work - never off road - less than 16,000 miles and both front tires are almost bald. Took to dealer twice & they say won't do anything - needs new tires - my gripe is why should it need new tires when less than 16,000 miles - I think issue is with front end - took to dealer again - said problem is because you didn't get tires balanced - again - my gripe is why does a car with less than 16,000 need 2 new front tires? Dealership has been ABSOLUTELY NO HELP!!!

My wife's standard in-town driving, errands, etc.(stay-at-home mom). Kept regular maintenance/rotation, etc.
Original tires were GONE @ about 27k miles. Replaced in 2008 with better quality - 90K expected life. Those too were gone quickly, after 18k miles! ( @ 45k miles, total millage on car). 3rd set of tires on 2010 ( @ 45K reading), this time Michelin(s) - 90K expected life. Had alignment done but no noticeable issue was detected/noted. Result: gone after 3 years & 30k miles on them. 4th set of tires is badly due @ 74,950K miles.
Got a bit of prorated warranty in 2008, and again in 2010. Notified Hyundai Corporate of the issue both times but they only suggested the alignment. This time I want to buy @ costco, which does NOT honor tire warranty unless previously bought from them -- somehow they are NOT able to work out with manufacturer's on warranties.
Though we LIKE the Tucson a lot, THIS IS A BIG MONEY PIT!
FYI. From DAY 1 we've had 'intermittent' issues with the Electronic Stability Control (ESC). The light come on at random and it won't go away. And sometimes nothing happens when we press the button (light doesn't come on). Took it twice to dealers during the warranty period but nothing major was found; they claimed a small 'adjustment' was done but it had NO effect. The problem came right back a few days later. Hyundai corporate would NOT do anything about it, even knowing the history with the Fast Tire wear, other than suggest the ESC check @ dealer. (I'll report this ESC separately per site's request).
Update from Apr 12, 2013: BTW, my brother's Nissan went on the original tires for about 5 years and 80k miles!
