Tucson Limited 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission

I'm got 18 mpg on my last tank in eco mode, all city, all flat, driving deliberately to maximize mpg. The car is supposed to get 25 city.

Tucson Limited 1.6L Turbo Gdi

I bought my 2016 Tucson on 05/16/16. I started tracking my MPGs from my first fill up. I told my dealership that I was getting about 20 MPGs per tank. My Tucson was the subject of the DCT transmission problem. After several incidences and visits to the dealership, they finally kept my Tucson from 06/24/16 to 08/11/16 (not a typo), until the problem was diagnosed and a Recall was performed. I was told if/when they figure out how to fix the DCT problem, the fix should also address the poor MPG problem. Well, it hasn't. I still get ~ 20 MPGs per tank. The only exception was my two 8 hour road trips (in which my a/c didn't work - see separate complaint), for which I tracked 29 - 30 MPGs per tank. My Tucson is again at the dealership being diagnosed (11/02/16).

Update from Nov 5, 2016: Picked up my Tucson on 11/04/16. At first, the dealership Service Consultant tells me that the Shop Foreman said I'm getting 29.7?? MPGs. I said, "That's absolutely not true. I left you my log that I've been keeping since I purchased this car." He said that Hyundai gives them a special formula to determine MPGs. I said, "What?! I've been tracking MPGs my whole life. I know how to figure MPGs. Look at my records. I divide the mileage that I traveled since my last fill up, on Trip A (that gets zeroed out after each fill), by the gallons that it took to fill the tank." He said, "It's the way you drive and what your not taking into consideration is when like your sitting in your driveway idling." WTH?!?! The Shop Foreman said he did a test drive around town to derive at the 29.7??. I told him I don't think his 5 minute test drive in any way compares to the log I've kept since I purchased this car. I reminded him that we discussed this matter prior to my Tuscon being confiscated for 2 months waiting for the transmission problem to be figured out and was told that would probably fix this. He let me know he drove it for 2 hours. (There were 60 miles clocked on the tach.) I will keep tracking my poor MPGs and wait for Hyundai to have to address the matter on the 2016 Tucson, as they've apparently been forced to do on other models previously. If/when a class action takes places, I'll be ready for my compensation!

Tucson Limited 1.6L Turbo

Seems to be a lot of hype behind the Double Clutch transmission of this vehicle and improved gas mileage. I don't see it. Could they be fudging the numbers?? Not that ANYONE would ever do such a thing!!
