New brakes at 16,000 miles--Ridiculous! Apparently the G35X has a history of brake problems for which Infinity recognized by extending the warrantee on previous model years. If you buy one plan to replace the brakes each time you change your oil.

Nissan claims it is normal for all brakes and rotors to be replaced at 14,000 miles at a cost of $1,200 CDN. Who are they trying to kid? They call this a luxury car with luxury service.

Despite previous class-action lawsuits and other black-eyes on this very matter, Infiniti sells the car without telling the owner the front brakes wear out between 12,000 and 18,000 miles. Hidden warranty on 03 and 04 model is NOT available on 05 or 06 models. Owner is expected to pay $300+ every year to get "high performance braking". This arrogant philosophy also makes the car very hard to drive smoothly. Two reasons to avoid this car unless you have money to burn and want a herky-jerky ride.

My girlfriend brings her car to the dealership for a recall on something (think it was something with the seatbelts), anyway, the dealership gives her a quote for $1100 to replace the front pads and rotors, replace the rear pads and cut the rear rotors. They had cut the front rotors and replaced the pads 11,000 miles prior. She thinks the pads were done again when the car was newer but can't swear to it so...
The front rotors had been heavily worn where the pads hit the rotors, so much it created ridges on the outside and inside the rotors. After pricing OEM pads and rotors and anticipating the same results, we went for aftermarket pads and rotors. Forgot the brand but the new front rotors and front ceramic pads cost $300 online and took about 3 hours to do (car spent most its life in Jersey so the rust made it take a little longer). The ceramic pads have helped greatly with the heavy brake dust as well.
The rear pads and rotors are still on there. The rear rotors are fine, pads are about 20% so they are about ready. Car has 77k on it now, 51k when the dealer said the front and rear pads and rotors needed to be done.
