Purchased a used 2005 Infiniti G35X. Loved the car. But the airbag light has come on 3 times now. First one was diagnosed as a transient voltage in the system. Great I thought. I am going to be driving down the interstate and a transient electron is going to cause my airbag to inflate. Nuisance but problem solved right? Nope. 3 months later, it starts to flash again. Back to the dealer. A spiral cable in the steering column is shorting. $499 but alas, I have the CPO warranty. Done. Right?? Nope. Now, 8 months later and out of warranty, it's flashing again. Call the dealer and ask what the hell. Is this a problem in the model? No, bring it in. Short in the drivers curtain airbag unit. $575 and I have one in stock. I bet you do. Had them clear the fault and light has not come on again. Yet. If it does, I am calling Nissan USA to get some kind of resolution with this. Owned many other cars with airbags and ran them for years and up to 188k miles. Most reliable system on the car until I got in this Infiniti.
