The contact owns a 2009 Jaguar Xf. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stalled as the transmission warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The transmission locked into neutral and could not be moved into any other gear. An internet search will show that this happens often with the 2009 Jaguar Xf.

On the night of July 2nd. 2011, I stopped my 2009 Jaguar Xf in a parking lot. I was unable to turn the gear dial selector from S (sports) and noticed a warning which said gearbox fault. I turned off the engine and applied the parking brake. I was unable to restart the car as the transmission was still engaged. I was unable to use the internet on my cell phone but called a friend who googled the problem and told me to wait a while. I did this and was able to operate the gear selector dial and continue the 30 miles to my home. On parking at my home the same thing happened and I was unable to disengage the transmission selector dial. On exiting the car a warning sign indicated that the transmission was still engaged. I turned off the engine and waited and was again able to disengage the transmission. I believe this is a very serious safety issue and could have significant consequences if the transmission got stuck in reverse when in a busy parking lot or on a busy road. I have had other problems related to power drainage on this vehicle which rendered it unable to be opened or start. I no longer trust this car until the item is fixed and since this is a July 4th weekend my alternate transportation options are limited. This transmission failure is serious in my opinion.

The transmission sticks in drive. Jaguar service action K048 was performed after about the fourth time it stuck in gear. After dealer had car for several days only 2 hours after picking it up it was dragged with the wheels locked up back on the tow truck with the transmission stuck in drive. The car has been at the dealer now for 15 days and all we are being told is that the transmission control switch (tcs) is broken and there are no replacements available. We were not even given any estimate of when the car will be repaired or if it can be repaired. This is a very serious safety defect with this transmission I have read enough blogs to know that all Xf's have this transmission defect and this should be a major recall item. I'm going to ask Jaguar to purchase the car back.

I leased a new 2009 Jaguar Xf on 3/17/08. The car had one noticeable serious design defect that will certainly kill someone eventually. I reported it to the dealer, sale, service, and regional Jaguar. The car has the new "paddle" shifting levers behind the steering wheel at 3 O'clock and 9 O'clock positions. It is nearly impossible to drive the car without accidentally hitting the paddles -sometimes at inopportune moments, sometimes at high speed.
