Vehicle stops accelerating randomly and loses power. Service electronic throttle control light comes on and engine light and traction control light and vehicle will not accelerate or stalls. Had vehicle towed to dealership and the code is saying the PTU is bad and needs to be replaced. This happens all the time, thankfully I-??ve been very lucky thus far not having my children in the vehicle with me when it happens as this could cause a very serious accident.

URGENT: Date of near life & death situation.10-6-2023.This 2019 KL Cherokee lost accelerating power while in heavy traffic. As the car was losing speed the "D" drive indicator on center dash started flashing a moments later 2 messages displayed: Msg 1: Service transmission Restart in Park with vehicle @ zero speed. Msg 2: Shift to park or neutral Press brakes and select gear. (Center dash is the screen between tachometer and speedometer) Followed instructions, turned key to off position for a few seconds then started engine placed shifter in drive, accelerated engine to 2000 RPMs, car failed to move. Turned key off a second time, waited about 18 seconds for the mileage readout to clear then another 6 seconds (+-) for the outline light bars for the center screen to clear. Then when started it engaged a drive gear. Even in residential areas there are large trash trucks and large delivery trucks hurrying about, added to this vehicle faulting in roadway much less a center lane on the interstate with no time to pull out of traffic. Don't trust the car seat and booster seat even with air bags to save your children. Action is required to remove these vehicles from service after it has been proven the manufacturer cannot supply the dealership with a successful repair for a well documented failure of a common safety hazard in many of their vehicles. The dealership did not duplicate the problem but did confirm all of the information supplied them matched with the faults stored in PCM Memory. Not being able to duplicate leaves the Technician with just an image of the perils these faults puts the operator and public in, Catastrophic. No specific component could be proven at fault, with vehicle operating normal. After a diagnostic fault code retrieval the option was to allow them to spend maximum 6 hours in electrical testing to verify integrity of electrical connections and components. Trust and confidence in an organizations leadership to accept responsibility for mistakes

The car lost acceleration power when driving, showed no codes, and displayed a message to shift to park and restart car. This incident happened twice including after the car was taken to the dealer, who could not find anything wrong with the car. A google search revealed several 2018 vehicles with that problem and a recall for 2017 models and earlier; however, the 2018 model has not been recalled and should be.

Hello -- My Jeep has had a repetitive issue with the Start/Stop system since I took ownership. In recent months, my vehicle has stalled on two separate occasions by completely shutting down at a stop light. First the "hood switch is open" alert comes up, then an emergency braking alert comes up, all while the vehicle completely shuts off as I am accelerating. This is extremely dangerous as it could definitely cause an accident as I'm mid-intersection. I have taken my vehicle to Jeep to complain of the issue, but they have let me know that the vehicle is not recording the error codes and there is nothing to be done. They literally send me home to continue driving it and have the stalling happen again. I have done extensive research and found that I am not the only Jeep owner with this issue. In fact, they have also gone through very similar frustrations with the dealership as they state there is nothing to be done. From my research it looks like it could be the IBS connector (intelligent battery sensor), but it also could be a poor electrical system. Please help.

The P2122 OBD-II trouble, or fault, code means that the vehicle's on-board computer has detected low voltage in the throttle position sensor (TPS), which is usually below 0.17 volts. The battery is also at 8.3 volts indicating a potential short somewhere and potentially a faulty alternator. This is not what you want while driving a vehicle.

In January of 2021 I was driving my vehicle out of the car wash when it suddenly accelerated on its own across a busy roadway out of the parking lot. The vehicle was going 65 MPH without my foot on the gas. I had to keep my foot on the brake to control its speed and get myself to work that way. I got the car to stop in those parking lot and put the vehicle in Park. The RPMs shot up to 5000, the Stop Start and a couple of other warning lights were on. I shut the vehicle off, restarted it and then it was fine as if nothing ever happened. After work I brought the vehicle to the dealer, they checked the OBD computer and verified that the incident happened. They replaced some sensor and everything was fine until May 20th, 2021. On that day the vehicle started to accelerate on its own again. I immediately pulled into a Walmart parking lot, put the vehicle in Park, took a picture of the dashboard to show the dealer and turned the vehicle off. I did not run the car long enough for the warning lights to come on. I restarted the vehicle and again it was as if nothing happened. I bright the vehicle to my dealership and as of 06/08/2021 it is still there waiting on Chrysler to figure something out. The dealer cannot fix it unless they can get it to happen again because I did not run the car long enough for the OBD computer to register and record the second incident as per Chrysler-€™s policy.

The starter went bad around 40,000 miles. Sometimes it starts other times it takes hours to start. I always get a notifaction that says starter protection mode engin warming after a few failed start attempts. The car stalls out often. Any turns shut the car off. Oil must be added twice a month to fix the stall issue. Half the time it says 4 wheel drive and cruise control unavailable. This Jeep is a lemon. A disastrous purchase. Should be a recall on the starters as many people have the same problem. 2 year old car costing me 900 to fix starter is a joke.

The Jeep started stalling when in motion/ driving about a month ago, it usually happened when braking to stop and the Jeep will not turn back on. It takes about three times to turn over and start back up. Yesterday while driving on a busier road the Jeep started throwing errors staying systems were not working, the check engine light came on and then when I tried to drive it through the stop light the vehicle would not shift or accelerate. I got it pulled over in a gas station parking lot and turned the vehicle off. The vehicle would not turn over the first couple of times and then it finally did. Not when I try to remote start the vehicle it will not stay running. Every time I have had this happen I have been driving on a city street and I am lucky I have not been in an accident as nothing works not even my hazard lights. I feel this vehicle is not safe to drive anymore. When the electric issue happened yesterday there was a red flashing lightening bolt on the dash and the traction control light was also flashing when it was telling me certain systems were not woking. I tried to get a picture but it did not take. I am current in Canada at college and with the borders being closed I can not just drive to NY to get it looked at. I tried to call a Jeep dealer here but now one will return my calls

Whole stationary, the Jeep has acted like it didn't want to start 4 separate times, the climate changes itself to go the the front vent on high heat every time the car is turned on regardless of setting before turning off, and radio turns on and off on its own. The aux port on the console will work one day and not the next. While driving, the cruise control has stopped working twice. All this happened in a span of two weeks.

From the that I drove it out of the dealership I noticed that applying the gas did not get me the instant needed power to get this 6-cylinder car moving. In November this car with less that 300 miles was back at the dealership when it also developed a surge in power and a fluctuating engine revving... it spent a month at the dealership before they could determine what the problem was. That problem may have been solved but the acceleration is still a concern of ours which we need to live with for another 2-years which is the remainder of our lease.

There Jeep has different acceleration that are unsafe. With regular driving you can give it gas and it's slow going then some times it will jump picking up speed fast. This happens when you push the accelerator down the sane with either way it speed up. My concern is if im behind someone at a light and I go to take off it might do the thing where it picks up speed fast and I run in back of someone. This isn't safe at all.

My 16 month old Jeep turns off while you are driving it. This has occurred twice in the prior two weeks. No warning lights--the car just turns off completely. I have been advised this is due to a drop in oil pressure, but the oil pressure light doesn't come on. The car has been maintained according to the guidelines within the manual which states to change the oil when the engine light comes on and that it should never go beyond 10,000 miles between oil changes. When the car was taken to the dealer for the issue we were advised that the reality is that the oil needs changed every 4,000 miles and this is a known issue and that more frequent oil changes reduces the likelihood of this occurring. My 16 year old son was driving the car the first time this occurred and the second time it was on a 45 mile an hour road. This is a known issue and yet Chrysler/Jeep does nothing to resolve it.

The contact leased a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that prior to the failure the key fob was locked inside the vehicle, however once the vehicle was opened she started the vehicle and shifted to reverse. The reverse alert audio chimed and the brake pedal was depressed however the vehicle inadvertently accelerated in reverse. The contact stated that no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle crashed into another vehicle. No injuries were sustained. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to myrtle beach Jeep Chrysler (785 jason blvd, myrtle beach, SC 29577 843-448-1191) were the failure was not diagnosed or duplicated. The contact also mentioned that when approaching a stop light and the brake pedal was depressed the vehicle would lurch forward as well as when the brake pedal was released an abnormal grinding noise was heard. The manufacturer was contacted but offered no assistance as the contact no longer owns the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 1,070.
