Always something wrong every time I take my Jeep in. Now it's the subframe. My warranty won't cover the cost of it being fixed. So sad. They should just take this Jeep and run it off the cliff.

Compass LX 2.4L

I first noticed my sway light, abs light and 4wd lights all came on. I took it to the dealer and he said my rear subframe was rusted out, he did not know how I was able to drive it in. He also said it was a persistent problem so Jeep allowed them to replace some at no charge, but did not do a recall. "Unfortunately", I was about 6 months too late to reap the benefits. So I had to pay $2700.00 for the repairs. Yeah I am upset, I had just put that car on the read the week before on a 500 mile round trip drive. I am going to see if MFG will give me some of it back. I even bought a used car warranty from that dealer but (you got it) it had expired.

rusted out subframe and spring rusted out subframe and spring rusted out subframe and spring

My 20 year old college daughter was driving this vehicle when the rotted out sub frame FAILED!!! She was uninjured but this was a well known problem that no one warned me about not the dealer that I purchased from or Chrysler, by sending letter to owners and it is a several years know problem.

If you have this car get it checked before the it kills you or a family member or do as I am and just never purchase Jeep. Cheaply made cars/suvs. As far as I can research this car was never inspected for this known problem they just let it be sold to disrespecting customers. SHAME ON YOU CHRYSLER !!!

Update from Jun 16, 2017: After talking to a lot of people it seam instead of a recall or at least away of getting around the mfg. junk sub frame they extend the warranty to 10 years for 2007 Jeep Compass. There should have been a recall so if you have this car crawl under it and take a hard look before its too late!!

Update from Jul 8, 2017: Just received a letter from Mr. Kon of Chrysler special investigation telling me that my rusted out 10 year old car war no longer under warranty and I will have to repair there substandard parts myself for around $2,000.

This is how Chrysler treats there customer when it was obviously they knew of the problem they just don't care!

I and my family will never purchase there dangerous vehicles again and if you read this and purchase one you can not say you weren't warned !

Compass 4x4

I bought the Jeep used so expected some problems, but running into major problems. The most recent is the driver side sub frame is rusting through and the spring is about to go through the frame. I have been told it is unsafe to drive and if do drive it the spring could go through, snap and cause a crash. The driver side tire makes a horrific noise when had to drive it to get it home. The mechanic said the frame was in stock at the dealership and is a common problem for the 2007 Jeep Compass. As I read the complaints on this page and others it seems to be a very common problem. I called Jeep and was told there is nothing they can do to help and this problem is not on recall. He suggested to take it back to dealership and ask to see if it might qualify under a manufacturing warranty. If not than I have some nice lawn art since I already sunk $2000 into for other problems and can't come up with another $2500.
